About me
I’m a graphic designer working with socially aware businesses and the third sector - social entrepreneurs, charities and churches. I work in print and web design and I have a passion for lettering. Graphic design can sometimes seem like the icing on the cake, making things look nice once all the background planning has been done, but really it's about problem solving. I take a genuine interest in the work my clients are doing - this has two main benefits. Everything I learn about them allows me to create a brand that really represents them while our conversations also give clients the chance to clarify who their audience is and refine their message. As an outsider I am also able to act as test audience to help them remove any jargon and reflect on the tone of voice they want to pitch. With limited budgets I am keen that clients are able to update their website without needing to incur any further costs so I provide them with tutorials as well as guidelines on how to create materials such as email newsletters so they can take ownership of their own brand once the project is over. I love to cheer my clients on when they are maybe feeling a bit anxious about creating or changing their business and also giving advice so they are not overwhelmed with design options. It's really about building relationships and trust.

Bambu Living SustainablyUsing the 'Over' app I created a set of 8 social media posts/stories for Bambú Living Sustainably. Each featured three slides to encourage the viewer to engage more with the post, scrolling across from beginning to end. I incorporated the general website colours and created consistency with the theme and style of the posts, often engaging the viewer with an initial question or statement. I also made strategy suggestions such as introducing 'Simple Swaps' which would feature regularly to show th

Bambu Living SustainablyDuring my final year at college we were asked to pitch for the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service annual report. My design focussed on the relationship between the donor and the patient, exploring the human story within the clinical process. While they never meet the donor and the recipient are bound by a precious gift. This connection is symbolised by the plasters received by the donor and patient. I used these tactile elements to illustrate the story. The first introduction to the

Canny UpkeepersThis project is for an innovative new company based in Edinburgh that aims not to 'lose, simply restore' the heritage buildings that make up the beautiful landscape of our city. The project involved helping to shape the brand as the business was forming. It involved branding, front-end design of their launch site, infographics and keynote presentation slides. This was an incredibly exciting project to be part of as we were looking to the past while thinking about the future custodians of Edinbur

After graduating I began my freelance career working with a successful graphic design agency, Blood Creative, and working directly with my own clients. Over the years I have designed brands and websites, graphics for social media and I have managed projects by working closely with my clients. I guide my clients through what they might need to think about when communicating with their service-users and discuss how they can refine their messaging.

While working with Blood Creative I helped manage their largest client account. I helped produce the client's printed brochures - liaising closely with colleagues and clients to establish requirements and implement supplied changes to content as well as managing time-schedules and working with suppliers.
