About me

A full-stack digital strategist with over a decade of freelance experience. I've worked with start-ups, agencies and created/headed up the social teams in government departments, agencies, and client side. I'm a self-starter who is equally passionate about data, planning, and execution. I'm happiest when leveraging my understanding of social media/the internet. I bring this viewpoint to all my projects. I'm a big believer that social media isn't 'just for marketing' and that when used properly it can help us achieve really good things. Although I studied film I started my working career in market research, before transitioning to be half of a creative team, then working across the board at a startup until I realised that strategy was where I wanted to be. I am a pop-culture nerd; Social TV is a massive passion of mine and I bring my understanding of subcultures and fandom to my work in identifying the 'magic thing' that holds each online community together. This knowledge allows me to create the best strategy to meet your objectives (and I can also offer advice regarding the creative that will resonate the most). I started as a community manager, but data-driven strategy has always been at the heart of everything I do. Combining my creative and market research background, I'm at my best when applying this thinking to monitoring/listening and research to come up with the simplest and most effective solution possible. I'm not a fan of buzzwords, but I am a fan of creating simple, bespoke solutions to problems and explaining them in plain english. Oh, and I really, really like metrics. Not the short term fluffy ones that keep clients happy initially, but the ones that show you're making marked progress towards your goal.
