- Beauty is functionThere is a common perception that design has to be functional and art is allowed to just be beautiful. What if the function of a design was to be beautiful? Would it still be design when the beauty takes over the functionality? This critical project pushes the idea of what we consider everyday products when their functionalities have been limited by aesthetics.
- High Visibility FashionHighly visible clothing and accessories are associated with safety. Unfortunately safety is not regarded as fashionable or cool to wear. As a kid I would feel so embarrassed when my parents made me wear a high-visible vest or band in the winter. I would often take it off a few minutes after I had left the house. - Hydroponic Fish-tank Kitchen ConceptThe brief asked us to create a futuristic world where we had to set the rules. The world I created was a world where creativity was non-existing and only logic could be applied. Some of the rules in Logica were transparency, circular design and locally sourced food and resources. I designed both macro (the city planning) and micro (kitchen layout with locally grown food) elements. - Pharma FashionFashion sustainability is a hot topic these days. Several extensive reports have been written about the global problem the fashion industry has. However, most consumers are not aware of the findings and suggestions in these reports. Focusing on one issue in isolation distorts the complexity. The consumer should be more aware of the complete lifecycle of their garments. The purpose of the project is to allow people access to the very complicated issue of fashion sustainability. I also spent a lot of my time in the workshops developing my practical skills and attention to detail.
