I am an artist and MA Contemporary Art graduate at the Sotheby’s Institute of Art. I am an artist of Ghanaian descent of tw homes- Accra and London. My works have been sold internationally with the majority of her clients residing as far afield as France, U.S.A, U.K as well as Ghana, Nigeria and Angola. My work currently draws inspiration from a plethora of tropes and concerns which are quintessentially Ghanaian. Specifically, these revolve around explorations of self and identity social and personal conscience as well as social issues affecting mine and many other developing countries in over sixty years of what should have been the post-independence honeymoon after British colonialists departed from Ghana’s shores. These ideas are expressed through the mediums of ink and acrylic on paper, digital painting and canvas - with explosions of colour and patterns as distinctive features that mark a rapidly evolving signature style.
My love for art and architecture are more than expressions of self; they represent an amalgam of all that has moulded me –assimilation of the kaleidoscope of cultural & structural vibrancy and vitality of a life spent immersed in distinctly different cultures. I believe that “Art should primarily be shared” even at its most intense individualist form.
My passion for art and design has led me to this field of Contemporary Art and Design with the intention of being amongst those who can contribute to contemporary art values. Having the ability to enhance spaces and create atmospheres that allow for debate through art has always been a passion of mine- especially in a time where these modes of immersive and imaginative experiences are needed the most. From a very young age, I was exposed to paintings and other forms of art through the interests of my father. What he saw as a hobby invariably exposed me to something, I consider a life’s practice. Art has become a part of me due to the ability to express myself as well as apply my creative skill and imagination in current topics and daily occurrences.
