I like to think of myself as a problem solver. I’ve spent the last 6 years solving
problems large and small, from international events for 500+ multilingual delegates
to branding local start ups.
I am always on the look out for new exciting projects to get my teeth stuck in to so if you need a hand get in touch!
Projects
- Don't Let Her DownThe objective was to design and develop the email campaigns and website for the launch of DLHD, a male focussed affiliate retail company. It was important that the imagery and products used reflected the values of the company. The tone of voice adds a personality throughout whilst also being very clear and comforting at the same time.
- Start Starting Up - BrandingThe brief was to create an identity for his online presence under the name ‘Start Starting Up’. It had to be bold, friendly and scalable as the majority of his audience would be viewing through mobile devices. ‘Start Starting Up’ is the online alias of Greg Preece who has began documenting his journey in becoming a self sufficient online business. He posts weekly updates through his YouTube channel on new ideas and developments within his business and gives tips and advice to other start ups. Since launching in May 2016, the YouTube channel alone has grown to 2,400 subscribers with videos averaging around 1,000 views.
- Primark - Global Retailer EventFor the first time in their history this fashion retailer wanted to bring together various members of their global team under one roof for an event which would showcase the new range of items that were soon to be reaching stores worldwide. The branding had to be strong and bold, with a current fashion feel, so used striking colours and bold imagery to entice the viewer. As delegates were travelling from across the globe, two patterns were developed, ‘the wave’ and ‘the zig zag’. These patterns represented both land and sea and how fashion spans/transcends these two elements. These patterns were used throughout the event and across various collateral, such as the registration website and name badges. A workbook was created in order to ensure that delegates took away important information about the ranges. However, pieces of key information about the products were missing and could only be completed as the event progressed and delegates were involved in team interactions. The workbook itself was created in six languages to cater for the variety of delegates at the event.
- Clarity - Automotive EventConcept design for an internal event and reveal of the newest vehicle in the companies range. The theme was based around the ever growing rumours, leaks and whispers that surround product and car reveals. By using distorted photography, typography and teaser campaigns this would help build suspense before the reveal in pre-event communications, such as invites and save the dates. This treatment and the idea of ‘Clarity’ would continue throughout the event and it’s materials including networking cards which would be printed on clear plastic to make them completley transparent. As the event progressed and more information was revealed the logo itself would become more complete, thus giving full clarity.
- Op Art IllustrationsThis style was born out of a happy accident whilst designing a seating plan of all things. Since then I’ve been experimenting with all sorts of line work and shapes and researching into the history of OpArt and their pioneers like Bridget Riley. I was even lucky enough to have some of my illustrations animated and used as visuals during a recent music festival in Birmingham.
- Royal - BrandingThis was a conceptual branding exercise, taking inspiration from current fashion houses in order to develop a brand that portrays both elegance and simplicity. The concept was to produce a brand that would stand out in an already overcrowded market place. Royal as a name itself exudes elegance and the branding had to reflect that through it’s colour pallette and minimal approach to typography and content.
