About me
I am a freelance writer/copywriter with an interest in popular culture and global affairs. Since going freelance, I have worked on news and feature stories for various publications across the advertising, travel, lifestyle and news industries for both print and online. I have also worked briefly in some broadcast offices too, with stints at Soho and Netil Radio. I also occasionally work producing copy for some advertising production companies. At my last permanent post at shots, I was responsible for writing about the US and LATAM regions. From profiling key industry people, attending local events and investigating new trends, I proved my ability to be personable, proactive and persistent in getting engaging work filed to deadline. It was a position that enabled me to travel around the world, which is something I hope to continue doing in my quest to document people's stories. PITCH COOLWhen one door closes, we create another one. Pitch Cool has been brewing at the back of my mind since I launched The Pitch Fanzine three years ago. In this special issue, our featured talent share their stories of determination to succeed and how sometimes they’ve had to navigate their way around closed doors in their journ

Olivia AtkinsThe gentle hum of chitchat drowned out the passing Caribbean storm. Jim silently sipped his half pint gazing off into the distance, absent-mindedly as drinkers around him busied themselves, sinking bottles, waiting for it to blow over. The bar was never fully occupied; merely a space for locals to drop into, a pit stop enroute home. And tonight, the space was comfortably filled. No, it wasn’t the room that concerned Jim. He thought about Maria, his eldest – she’d been missing for two days now… a

The Bower Monologues- Issue 001As part of my final major project for my fashion journalism degree I produced and edited a print and online publication called The Bower Monologues which is available to purchase. The Bower Monologues is a bi-annual print publication and website exploring arts, culture and literature through the female psyche. Created by and for the modern woman, it provides an alternative to the zine-like feminist publications and online platforms already available. Instead, The Bower Monologues aims to inspi

Olivia AtkinsCandle heat singed my face She leant forward, Daring me to make a wish. Why the fuss? They’d exchanged ‘tense words’ again Arguing through the night. I couldn’t sleep Yet I couldn’t make it right. Now dad’s crying And mum wants to take my picture “Blow out the goddam candles,” to my right, she offers a tight whisper. All this falsity Just to mark the day “That’s it – I want peace, love and laughter,” I silently prayed. Ten today and wishing for a change of things; I puffed out my cheek
