About me
Hey there!
My name is Ollie and I'm currently doing freelance graphic design work in my local area and am looking to expand my horizons.
I started my journey as a creative when I taught myself to use Photoshop in order to edit a set of class photos at school for a display board.
Shortly afterwards I approached 3D modelling in Blender, my skills in this are still developing, however, I find it extremely useful to use Blender to create my own assets for my work in Photoshop and in my designs for adverts in the form of banners and posters as to avoid trawling through thousands of substandard royalty-free images online.
I'm currently teaching myself to use Adobe Aftereffects, as I expect it to work very well in tandem with my Blender 3D skillset.
If I am able to turn a reasonable profit from the work I produce, I would like to branch off into freelance logo and website design.
Projects
- Contrasting ColorsA one-hour render I whipped up based on a theme of 'Contrasting Colours'. There's nothing spectacular about the render, use of photo-textures and their alpha channels for a gentle subsurface scattering effect; and an exercise in the use of HDRIs for efficient yet effective lighting.
- "The Opposite Sex" Stage Production - Poster AdvertEarly 2018, about two years into my venture into graphic design, my skills were needed to create a poster for a stage production of "The Opposite Sex" in doing so setting a theme for the whole publicity campaign to follow. This was the first time I relied wholly on my Blender 3D skills for the focus of the artwork. The tabletop and all of the props haphazardly strewn around were all created and rendered by me in Blender (save for the sock and the bra). Adobe CC software was then used for the log
- Snow White Pantomime - Art and GraphicsIn late 2017 I was asked to design and create a poster, program and 3m wide banner for a local pantomime, a task I was happy to undertake! I am limited in what I can post due to the nature of the information contained within the media, however, I am more than excited to show my hard work even if it is a little belated.
- Moonscape & EarthriseA small side-project of mine while work has dwindled recently, I challenged myself with creating a moonscape that looked as photorealistic as possible! I knew I had succeeded when viewers thought it was simply a photo taken from one of the Apollo missions! The fine dust scattered across the landscape required a particle system of over 300,000 small stone objects to be used. With more computing power I hope to improve this with even more particles littering the desolate moonscape...

For the past 3 years, I have been designing and producing almost all of the publicity for my local on-stage acting company. From large 3-meter banners to small A5 posters and even several programs for the shows that were successfully sold, producing another source of income for the company.
