- TaxiTaxi was an experimental publication produced by Getty Images from 2002 to 2004. It was attempt to harness the power of editorial design to market image library content. To that end, the magazine Taxi was created. Taxi presented thousands of images in its brief life, and won a slew of design awards in the process. Startlingly original editorial content was generated for the publication, with imagery always the starting point. We in the design team tried our best to visualise that content.
- EditEdit by Getty Images was a further expansion of the idea first developed as Taxi. Where Taxi drew its content from only one image collection though, Edit's scope was broadened to include all imagery for which Getty owned copyright. In effect this made Edit the magazine with the largest photography budget in the world. Paul worked with Chris Ashworth, Lewis Blackwell and editor John O'Reilly to create this playful A5 magazine which ranged widely and with good humour.
- ALEPHTransforming Céline campaign girl Daria Werbowy into a primordial goddess rising from and returning to the earth, the CGI-powered film explores ideas of nature, birth and death. Conceived in collaboration with Warren Du Preez and Nick Thornton Jones for Creative Review’s Annual Creative Awards. The capture side of the project was a one day shoot in Holborn studios London with FBFX Digital scanning, Frank Benhamou styling, Rebecca Louise Law creating floral installations, Raphael Salley on hair
- Camp BestivalSince 2009 StudioPensom have worked with the team at Get Involved and Sunday Best to produce the Camp Bestival Almanac. The Almanac is a 100-page booklet which is sold on site on Camp Bestival weekend. It features timetables for the weekend's events and profiles of all the performers involved. Given the rich visual nature of Camp Bestival, the Almanacs draw heavily on illustration, and are always a pleasurable project to work on.
- Massive AttackWe were delighted to work with Robert Del Naja recently on the production of 3D & The Art Of Massive Attack. This set is the most complete record of the band's artwork and influences ever released, and comprises a cloth-bound book, etched vinyl disc and limited-edition screen print. It is available from The Vinyl Factory.
- Florence + The MachineThe Vinyl Factory and Island Records asked StudioPensom to design a luxurious limited edition set of singles by Florence + The Machine, taken from the acclaimed album 'Ceremonials'. Four records were produced, for which we approached Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld to create an exclusve set of cover photographs. Each cover was screen printed, silver foiled and hand numbered on pristine white card and all feature a unique potrait of Florence Welch which will remain exclusive to these releases. The sleeves house a heavyweight 180-gram twelve-inch white vinyl record contained in a black inner bag.
