  • Oov
OovOov is a marionette made with the traditional upright control technique, but composed of umbrella hinges, wire mesh and paper mache. His design is inspired by the mudhead masks of the native american hopi tribe. Painted in neon colours, he glows in ultraviolet light, ideal for party installations.
  • Oliver Speaks
Oliver SpeaksFound in the Congo in the late sixties and brought to America to live with a family of chimpanzee trainers, Oliver was one of a kind. Some said he seemed strangely... human... almost as if his heritage was only half chimpanzee. If only he could speak and tell us his side of the story. In this piece, the puppeteer channels the soul of this possibly hybrid life form, to finally give him a voice. He tells his side of the story, and answers questions from the audience. Oliver Speaks has been performed at Ambler Primary school and was a favorite with the children.
  • Prisoner 61, This Is Your Death
Prisoner 61, This Is Your DeathA humble prisoner has no memory of his crime or his life outside his cell and the elements that surround him have become his world. The only thing he knows is that he has been waiting for his end, determined by the almighty force that is the jailer. This seemingly bleak metaphor for the human paradox is dealt with surprising light-heartedness and simplicity. Prisoner 61 has been performed at Ambler primary school and was a favorite with the children. It has also been performed at Skipton Puppet Festival 2009, 2013 and at Ynot Festival 2010 where it was a favourite with the adults.

     -
This honours degree focused on a wide range of technical and conceptual skills that provided a solid foundation the freedom to discover and develop my personal style. I undertook self-managed research, study and practice, resulting in a final major project and a written dissertation.
