About me
Multi Disciplinary Graphic Design & Art Direction by Ralph Solly I’m a senior graphic designer with in-house and agency experience, having worked for a variety of businesses. My experience includes designer for large cloud-based software vendor Workday, electrical and telecommunications retailer Dixons Carphone, international beauty specialty retailer Sally Salon Services, lifestyle brand and car rally Gumball 3000, small design agencies, Oracle Creative, Fifteen 65, and most recently Perfect Day. I am a creative individual who is reliable and prompt, I immerse myself in design, music, exhibitions, and typography, applying my keen interest and eye for detail within my creative role. I love to see a project through, from initial sketches, to sign off. I collect and research paper stocks, print finishes and typefaces. I draw regularly, and apply my love for drawing to aid the design process. I’m a team player who likes pitching to clients and coming up with new ideas. I am never afraid to critique my work, give my professional opinion into making the project much stronger and visually engaging and more worthwhile. I am well acquainted with working on several projects at a time with regular interaction with the creative director and other team members. I love to get stuck into design work, whether be it logo or brand identities, or any design quandary, it’s all part of the Ralph master plan to help make the world a bolder and brighter place.

  • Fedrigoni 366/2024
    Fedrigoni 366/2024hand-selected group of international designers were invited to participate, broadening Fedrigoni’s 366 project reach even further. I was assigned a green colour palette, with these shuffling colours influencing my design, deciding upon 5 of the 10 colours in my design. What feels particularly different about this year’s edition is the collaboration between myself the designer and print technology, that sees the former give up full control of how colour is expressed in my design.   • The Blast Bristol
    The Blast BristolPrint and digital branding work for The Blast, Bristol, artwork inspired from 90’s rave culture using bright and bold colourways, complimented with the iconic Akzidenz Grotesk typeface. Design included limited edition long-sleeved t-shirts, sold as ticket bundles for each event, which were highly collectable.
  • Critical Music Apparel
    Critical Music ApparelRecent work for drum ‘n’ Bass record label Critical Music. I design a variety of unisex apparel capsules for the label. These include a monochrome range of t-shirts, coach jackets, and hoodies, with special seasonal drops and limited runs for the Critical Sound clubnights. Most recently, I designed a limited edition tracksuit, 5 panel cap, heavy duty bag and short sleeved t-shirt. I created technical garment plans from scratch, complimented with the design of custom typography.

    WorkdayVarious large-scale out of home advertising, including exhibition stands at Workday Rising and Workday DevCon, and various conferences. This included print and digital campaigns, newspaper adverts, LinkedIn graphics, emailers, leaflets, pull-up banners, and invites, produced in a variety of languages for the EMEA region.     Fedrigoni 365/20232023 saw the Fedrigoni 365 collaboration harness the power of 365 creatives, with each one visually interpreting the theme ‘love’. The events over the last few years have highlighted the importance of these expressions of unity, of kindness and of love. They stand as a reminder to love more and to love harder.     Fedrigoni365/2021As an ode to community and togetherness, Fedrigoni UK invited me to contribute a design for the latest edition of its coveted calendar project. Each book contains a unique collection of 365 designs, randomly collated from the hundreds of contributions. Each participant was assigned a number from 1–31, alongside a ‘seed’ word allocated to me, mine being ‘26’ and ‘carve’. I ask 10 questions and artists respond visually. This method of networking and publicity compliments my curatorial relationship with artists, a way for artists to develop their visual practice as well as have an online item to share on their website.
