Susana López F., a visual artist from Gijon, Spain, becomes a modern day flâneur through photography.
She studied Fine Arts, specializing in Paiting, at Barcelona University, from where she also holds a PhD. Soon after, Susana travelled to London, New York or London to complete her studies and her camera travelled with her to capture her movements. Step by step, this hobby turned into her main body of work and she changes brushes for the cameras.
Susana’s artistic focus explores how the surface of the photograph is a modern day canvas to capture the ‘routine’, and transform it into something exceptional.
Currently, her mission is to catch the beauty of a city with each shot of her camera in a bid to capture the unnoticed aspects of city life that we all often are too busy to realize it.
The subject of her work is taken from, and inspired by, her personal experiences in the city and her daily life. Susana communicates through her pictures the history, architecture, consumerism and even immigration patterns of a city. She seeks to reveal this with a distance that reflects an objective and striking honesty. Some years ago she discovered the power of social media which allowed her to expand her aims and really engaged with her concept on a wider digital platform. She loves using twitter, and her personal blog diffuses her projects, making her images, views and personal experiences accessible to everyone.
Her work exists in gallery collections, town halls, cultural associations, and in collective and solo exhibitions in Spain and abroad. She recently showed her work in 1aSpace in Hong Kong, in Debut Contemporary and The Other Art Fair in London or in PointB in Brooklyn, NY.

- La Morte,To all those who left us too early. Where are you going? Is it scary? Will we meet again? Why did you disappear so soon? What did we not say? La Morte is a tribute to all those who are not among us anymore, especially those who left too early. I started La Morte in August 2015, during my stay in Atina (Italy) when I discover the old paper factory La Cartiera. This old building belongs to the Visocchi family. Some other old buildings are added to complete the series. We feel scared of death be
- TimeA constant in my life, and my work, is my obsession with time, time that goes by so fast and that we cannot never make up for. There are many times in my life when I wish I could make time stand still for a while or that I were able to travel in a time machine and go back to past times. I am inspired by the fascination I have with crowds, I use the camera with the intention of freezing moments, to make an attempt to stop time. All the pictures that define the visual diary of my work are an illusion of stopping the watch as I convert myself in a spectator of life where everything else keeps on moving. I work with several layers to reflect what happens around us, to show what we are missing when we do not live the present consciously. Each picture is an invitation to think about a life we live too fast. We often forget to enjoy the present and suddenly this present becomes past and it is impossible to recover it. Each picture is an invitation to enjoy the world around us each day, perhaps the future will never arrive.
- Anatomy of a waveThey say if you were born beside the sea you will connect with the huge blue in a special way. It is difficult to be for a long time far away from it because you need to smell it, hear it, feel it near you. The sea is as a heart that beats to keep us alive. Anatomy of a wave shows the experiences lived through the physical and spiritual journey of the human soul. Once more, I talk about time and its fugacity. I use my own memories to reflect about what I have lived and what I will live in the future. I would like to ask the public to stop and enjoy the present because we never know what is waiting for us around the corner.
