About me
A senior integrated designer with a wealth of experience in digital, print and social projects. I have the conceptual vision and technical skills to create confident and compelling work. I’ve worked for a number of leading London agencies and my core expertise is in advertising, branding and direct marketing. I’m articulate and experienced at working closely with clients and presenting work at the highest levels.
Projects
  • Badger Tax
Badger TaxA short personal project about the pitfalls and misadventures of an Englishman trying to learn Italian, I set out to illustrate pairs of words which sound confusingly similar to each other in Italian, but have wildly different meanings. I was lucky enough to be interviewed about the project by the fastcodesign site who ran a feature on it: http://www.fastcodesign.com/3049244/embarrassing-foreign-language-snafus-illustrated
  • VerOlio Branding
VerOlio BrandingI had great fun on a project to rebrand an Italian olive oil company. VerOlio is a small, family-run business, producing olive oil from the same grove of olive trees in Peschici, Puglia since 1880. It's a very competitive market, especially if you're a smaller producer so I tried to go for as much visual impact as possible to help it stand out on the shelf. I was lucky enough to have a client who agreed with this approach and was willing to try something a bit different. Budgetary constraints and printing limitations meant that a one-colour design made sense from an early stage. I designed packaging for their standard 5 litre olive oil cans, together with a double-sided hang tag,
  • AQA: Press Campaign
AQA: Press CampaignAQA are an educational charity, and one of the UK's largest exam boards. They wanted a press campaign to that would help promote their newly revised GCSEs to the teaching profession. The ads had to cover a wide range of subjects whilst still feeling cohesive. I spent time working closely with the art director to try and create a unified suite of ads that would maintain the same family feel regardless of subject.
  • Starbucks Rewards: Press Ad Campaign
Starbucks Rewards: Press Ad CampaignWorking closely with the art director, Jon Workman, I helped create a series of press ads to launch the Starbucks Rewards CRM programme. Taking its cue from the handwritten names on the takeaway cups, the creative uses a calligraphic approach. Ruth Rowland who specialises in hand lettering was commissioned to provide the illustration. I designed and built the master key visuals, before artworking all subsequent press adapts for national press.
  • Rule No. 6
Rule No. 6After stumbling across Sister Corita Kent's rules for her art classes, I was tempted to illustrate Rule No. 6 which is one of my favourites..
  • Factory-Cap
Factory-CapFactory-Cap is an Italian manufacturer that specialises in producing tamper-proof pourers, primarily for olive oil bottles. They felt their existing identity was a little tired and approached me to create a new logo. I presented two distinct routes, one based on the notion of the 'drop' itself, the second using the shape of the cap as it's starting point.
