I attained a joint degree in English Literature and Classical Civilisation, consisting of essay writing and visual projects and presentations, done both on my own and with a group, of which I was always the leader; all requiring extensive research, reading, time management and leadership skills.
For my English course, I covered the areas of gothic literature, the literature of the home and the unhomely and uncanny; Victorian literature, the literature of 'the Other'; postcolonial literature and feminity and sexuality in literature and Multi-cultural Britain and the literature of the Afro-Carribean diaspora in Britain.
My classics course consisted off: a project exploring the study of mourning rituals and how these impacted the lives and social status of Greek women, mythology and its reception and interpretation; Greek and Roman art and architecture, Art depicting the 'Other', gender and sexuality in art, Race in Greco-roman art. I also completed my dissertation in the effect that the worship of the Egyptian Goddess Isis had on Ancient Roman religion and society, from polytheistic paganism to Christianity.
