Has anyone heard of a China based company named YMYX ?

Hi everyone,
I have recently been contacted by a company based in China called YMYX.
Apparently they are looking for European based fashion designers to work with and help bring and expand their brand in the East Asia Fashion market.
Has anyone else here been contacted by this company as well ?
If so I’d be curious to discuss with other designers and have their view and opinions about this project.
Thanks so much !

  • Run. I dealt with them. Very unprofessional. Basically they want your designs to produce in china for £5 and sell for £25. It’s a licensing deal.
  • @Victoria Tincati we re almost ready to launch.... Doesn t seem like
  • I was contacted a couple of years ago and it seemed like a great project. However, when I joined other conversations online like this to get clarification, I started receiving long threatening emails from Kate. At one point she even called me sinister and went on on a personal level. Regardless of cultural differences in ways of working, I found that extremely unprofessional and left the opportunity. I do hope though, that it grows into a beautiful project and that she didn't email such things to others.
  • @Maxime Ephritikhine HI! A friend of mine has also been contacted. I can't find the article from the lawyer you are speaking of. Do you still have the link? Have you decided if you are going to work with them?
  • @Jorge San Martin can we chat please about YMYX. Have been contacted too.
  • @Sam Granata Hi Sam,
This is Victoria Tincati, I am assistant to CEO Kate Chang of YMYX Design.

Kate already responded to your accusations in an earlier post, but I would like to add few comments on what you posted.

3 years is the necessary amount to build such a big project. We are not just creating a distribution agreement, but rather, it’s an investment partnership to bring incredible talents into the biggest fashion market in the world.

Kate and YMYX came personally to Milan, Italy, where I am personally based, to meet each of the brands in person, multiple times, before signing an agreement. This takes time, energy, and any sort of investment, to build a trusting relationship.

It is not easy, because indeed, we are not in the market yet. We meet, we present what we are doing, we have very long and detailed communications, show a preview of our platform - which you say we don’t have, but we do and we show it to the potential partners - we have a long contract that is reviewed by specialized lawyers and then we proceed.

If we would just make the brands pay for stuff and then disappear, do you really think we would be cooperating with so many partners or “be around” for more then 3 years?

Our reputation would be dead, and we wouldn’t be able to even be here to respond to this post.

If any brand has any question, they are always free to ask us, and we always reply and try to be as exhaustive as we can. To come here after the call with an Anonymous profile and make false accusations, does really not give you any credit on what you are saying.

I will take the opportunity of this communication, to address any eventual designer who is reading this thread:

If you are a designer that has been contacted by us but you have some strong hesitations, do not join us now. Wait a few years. We will launch to the market soon and you will see with your own eyes what we are doing and that we are not a scam. We already have enough brands to kick off and you can see how they are doing first. We can’t promise we’ll do a second selection, but if we do, we can get in touch in 3 to 5 years time.

But if you would like to solve your doubts with us directly first, also feel free to do so. We are almost ready to launch, there are many developments we are sharing on our website, and you can get a sense of on which stage we are now by reading it or asking us directly.

We also published a list of designers we work with on our website, and you can check it and contact them if you have questions on how is their experience in cooperating with us.

I hope this very malicious post can be turned into an opportunity for any designer who has some questions, to feel more free in expressing any doubt to us. If now it’s not the right moment, then we always thank you to take an interest in our project, and we wish you the best.
  • Yes I have been contacted by this company too. Is there any designers working with this company.
  • Hi Maxime, I have also recently be contacted by this brand. Coudl you share any informations with me about this brand please? Thank you :)
  • Hello guys, I can verify the identity of Kate. I have meet with her in Milan and this project is serious. I can answer and exchange views with anyone here interested. We are a leather factory supplier for the YMYX project.
  • Hello, I have the same issue for a brand for which i work sometimes... also, is a scam or not? It's very important because for an artisan is possible lost lot of time and money.
  • Hi Maxime, I have also recently be contacted by this brand and I cant work out if it is a scam or not! Let me know your thoughts on this and would love to connect!
  • @Mary Emauz hi, she exists is not a ghost. I've been exchanging some e-mails even I was not selected by them, she is a very good person. Unfortunately for some other kind of problems (another designer who was not correct towards me) we stop further communications but not her fault. About the project, is serious even if is taking a lot of time, the coronavirus also affected this at the end...
