Hi, Can anyone recommend a decent (preferably free) script-writing software for radio/audio dramas that follows the UK/BBC formatting? Thx

  • Hi Alex, people will tell you that the industry standard is Final Draft but tbh you can write a script on all manner of programmes. I used to use Celtx which you could download for free but it now uses a monthly subscription system which isn't ideal. Currently I use Fade In which has lots of industry fans including Rian Johnson and Craig Mazin. It's a great application and has templates you can download from their website that include radio scripts. Plus you can export various types of files that work with other programmes like Final Draft so you could export and share with collaborators. And it even has a live collab function that allows you to share a code with other users and contribute to the same file. It isn't free I'm afraid but you just have a one off payment of $80 (it's made in the US) and that's it. Highly recommended.

    Good luck!
