Hi Everybody, as we are all working from home due to COVID I wondered how people are networking?

I am interested in talking to other video editors and generally broadening my network. Are there any commercial video editors out there, as I would like to learn more about that specialism.

  • Instagram helps a lot to stay connected and also The Dots of course for tecnical qustions.
  • Social media and the internet, allows us to connect with new people and broaden our networks with anyone in the world.
  • I've made a lot of connections on here as well as on Instagram.
  • @Pip Jamieson Hi, thank you for the link, I will definitely check it out as always looking for great ways to network doing these strange times
  • Hi @Rachel Leeder - This discussion might be super useful, as it's packed full of brilliant advice on networking during these stange times:

  • @Matt Brunton Hi Matt, I am using LinkedIn and trying to find local groups online or where I can. Just struggling to find some so thought I would ask in case somewhere out there I was missing
  • @Michelangelo Torres Hi, I might check out Indie Talk forum so thank you for letting me know about that.

Yea that is always a problem, when people don’t get back to you.
  • I'm considering Indie Talk forum as a place to do some networking, also Lift Gamma Gain seems to be a good alternative (for colorists only).
Here on The Dots, 'Ask' section is quite good unless when people propose a project, you send a dm for more details and they disappear somewhere.
  • @Ellie Stiles Hi Ellie, thank you for replying. I will check out both groups. I know some groups maybe do online zoom meetings but other wise I haven’t really heard much about networking. I want to try and get involved but it’s a bit tricky atm. If I hear of anything, I’ll let you know.
  • the groups Blue Collar Post Collective and Edit Collective on facebook have been my go to places for questions and community. There aren't too many networking things about right now (though BCPC just had a xmas zoom quiz) but if you find any better places to network in covid times let me know, I'm eager to do the same!
