How to get started with freelance projects?
I’m noticing a lot of people putting their name out there for freelance projects already have quite a steady backlog of work with important clients. Is it possible to get freelance work without having done work on big projects?

- If you're looking for some nice oportunities to fill your portfolio and do some creative work, free competitions are a nice way to start
- @Luke Freeman thank you for these tips! I really appreciate the response
- @Alice D Cooper thank you for your response this was really helpful! Goodluck to you
- All you need is proof of your ability and hints of your potential - we all started somewhere, often on the smallest project and even small budgets can be just as creative and effective as a big important client's megabudget. My first jobs as a newbie writer were press ads for an electric carpet sweeper and an insurance company for the clergy! Just make sure you have a professional website as your shop window. Everyone wants to discover talent that is new/different/interesting. Don't be afraid to create spec work - find a campaign you really like and produce the next three in the campaign. Good luck!
- Freelance works in different ways, depending on your work and your model (business model) sector you want to work in.You have opitions:1. I call it the X-Factor method; Find a talent manager or agency to represent you. Some will only for top designers, illustrators or studios etc. This works by the agency getting on your projects or working directly with an agency to produce the developing or final stages.2. Emailing companies “studios, ad agencies etc” you wish to work with showing your portfolio and CV and stating you are looking for freelance work. You would have to make sure your work is tailored for that project or studio.3. Find clients by directly sending out your CV and Portfolio. These methods take times can take time to get in, best to follow those in the industry and make sure they see your on various social media platforms.
