Interns / Junior creatives! What can we do more of as Senior Creatives, Leaders, Agencies or businesses to help you develop and grow.

So much is put onto Junior creatives to be the ones to bring something to the table when they enter a creative environment or job.

Recently I have been feeling that they are more often than not they let down by us as Seniors, Leaders and business who hired them, giving them meaningless projects or tasks, not including into big briefs, not dedicating time to them to encourage, brainstorm, provide real world feedback.

We expect so much of the next generation of creatives but i feel there should be a level of expectation they have of us. I would like to see this included in the hiring process, rather than bulls**t tasks, I want to know what you as a Junior or intern expect to get from us.

Let me know your experiences, thoughts and what you feel we can do better to give you the best start of you career and allow you to flourish in your own creative way within the real world environment.

  • I think more guidance in how to approach client briefs especially for the ones who have absolutely no prior experience and discussing more rather than just 'input/output of work' mindset.
  • Prioritise talents over work experience! Most entry level jobs/internships look at work experiences while a graduate student could not possibly study and work at the same time.
  • Give opportunity to work with you in small project bt paid.that will be help a entry level designer a lot and help also to get motivation and confident
  • I was watching this https://www.dixonbaxi.com/thedixonbaxiway yesterday and at some point someone says "Be the Senior that you wanted when you were a Junior" (being sympathetic and empathetic): I think this sums it up pretty well :)
