It would be great to hear your feedback on a topic that' possibly bothering me.

So about a month ago I left what could have possibly been the best place i've ever worked at. But due to some personality clashes with higher-ups I wasn't happy working there anymore, and the company could see it as well.

So they let me go, which at that time I believe was the best thing to do, but as time past I felt that my self-esteem took a bit of a hit, and now i'm scared to find another role.

If this has happend to any of guys, or you know someone who has had a similar thing happend to them then I would really appreciate to hear your responses.

Thanks again, and to all I hope you enjoy the upcoming holidays.

  • The World and people around us are always influencing us, it is much better would be to have calm attitude, by learning from new experiences and cisrcumstances. The biggest obstacle we encounter is ourself, not the others and their views.
  • You did what was the best for you. I think the wound is still fresh it takes time to heal. Do things or projects that inspire you in the meantime and make you feel better. Also in your next interview remember you'll interview the company as well so use this experience to understand if you could be a good fit. We think our path is a straight line but most of times it's a messy one so don't feel bad.
  • I really love the mantra 'what's for you, won't go by you', which I find comforting on down days or times I feel like nothing's going my way.

Leaving a job is a courageous decision but remember all the reasons you made the decision. Try to see it as something to learn from rather than dwell on the 'what ifs'.

Try and spot what wasn't quite going right at the last one and take that forward as you get back out there and find an even better opportunity.

And as always, please feel free to reach out to The Dots team if you need advice on how best to use the platform to find your next opportunity :-)

Wishing you the best for 2020!
  • Couldn't agree more with Jacob's words, I've been in a similar situation and I've no doubt more people have been there than is spoken about.

You put your wellbeing first and made your decision because the clashes made you unhappy, in my eyes that's the right decision...don't doubt that!

Sometimes the 'Perfect fit' on paper just doesn't work out, fortunately you've got a great portfolio of work and a network of like-minded creatives surrounding you to help you find your new venture. Keep plucking away, reach out when you need it and I have no doubt you'll find your feet again, real soon.

    Best of luck!
  • Thanks Jacob for the inspiring words. Its definely helped me not dwell on it too much and that it is a common thing to happen.

I hope you to enjoy the holiday season as well.
  • I think, If somethings not right, then it's good to take a risk and psuh yourself into a better role. You deserve to be treated better in a working environment, I've left jobs before purely on the basis of mistreatment and bullying and sure I thought I'd never find another job but you dig deep and trust your instincts and you'll have put yourself onto a better path.

Hope you have a great holida season!
