Need some help with Adobe Aftereffects! I have black screen between cuts showing up after rendering and I am not sure what is causing it??
I had footage in my comp that I split up to get rid of ums and ahs, however, after rendering it keeps showing a black screen that shows up between cuts.
This doesn't show in the comp whilst editing, so I am not sure why it keeps coming up after rendering.
Can anyone help?

- @Luke Freeman Nope. All my layers do not have any gaps. I always make sure to close off any gaps while stretching the timeline out. Is there any way I can send you my rendered video and my AE timeline? Email? Text? Anything will be fine
- @Aiden Fowler hard to help depending on your comp layers in Ae.Example: Does your working comp(render comp) have any gaps between the frames of the comp layers.OrDoes one of your comp layers(pre composed) have any gaps inbetween the frames or unextented timeline
- Hello! I am currently having the same issue, you explained it the way I am trying to figure out on YouTube to see if there is any tutorials, but they weren't the same issue as ours. I was wondering if you were able to figure out this issue? Its been happening recently and has never happened before when i render my videos on adobe media encoder.
- Tip there is a scale to enlarge the frames incase you have a frame gap
- @Ramon Blake Guthrie All fixed, thank you for helping! It really saved me
- @Ramon Blake Guthrie Hi the frames are coloured, so I guess there is gap between frames. That is weird though because it doesn't show on the timeline
- Is the black screen embedded into the footage you are trying to cut and do your frame rate of the footage and comp marry up? If you want you can send me just the AE file and I can see if your set-up is right
- As a test put a coloured solid layer underneath the comp at the bottom and do a test render to see if the blank frames are coloured
- @Ramon Blake Guthrie Hi, I have done this and there are no blank frames
- Do this check to see if there are blank frames After Effects on PC, the PAGE UP or PAGE DOWN buttons will move navigate a frame left or right or hold COMMAND (Mac) or CONTROL (PC) and tap the LEFT or RIGHT arrows, to move a frame left or right in the timeline
- Hey @Aman Malhi ! Thanks for uploading the screenshot! Is there any change you can overlap one of the layers for 1 frame without the video/audio looking like a glitch? I assuming you've probably zoomed in already as much as possible to check the alignments between the layers. From my experinece I have always avoided cutting audio or video in AfterEffects and done that in Premier Pro/ Audition as they are specifically designed for that. (just my understanding)Hope this helps or someone else comes up with a good solution! :)Best,Jochen
- @Luke Freeman Hi, I have just uploaded a screen shot
- @Ramon Blake Guthrie I have just uploaded a screenshot (fully zoomed in) of on the timeline there is a cut, but no gap in between. However, when it renders it pops up with a black screen in between the cuts as if there is a gap
- @Ramon Blake Guthrie It is h.264
