  • @Sean Thomas Hear bloody hear. And totally with you on the feeling of it being a reset.
  • A great deal of htings by people cleverer than I have written about this topic, but the truth is that obviously no one knows.

Coronavirus has rocked western attitudes to travel, healthcare, relationships, finances, workplace environments, public transport etc amongst countless other things.

It'll take years to make sense of it but from the vast amounts I've read on things, I think certain key trends will emerge:

    1) There has long been a reluctance by big companies to embrace flexible working and hours. I think that'll change.

    2) Globalisation has been rocked by this. People will qustion if they want to be in a plane cabin for years to come. Is that face to face client meeting worth 3 days away from work for? Should I have that holiday when the world is heating up exponentially?

    3) Brands will have to come to terms with their pasts, stop sugar coating tiny CSR initiatives and begin to live their values. Or create better ones. The younger generation will demand better of who they buy from.

I hope that out of all of this, there'll be a renewed desire to improve our own personal awareness, empathy and education.

I feel that huge themes of human rights, race, disparity of wealth, media coverage and social media are all converging in this pandemic. Social media and technology has shown through this to be a handy way of staying in touch with loved ones, but also it's demonstrated it's no replacement for human contact. And much of the injustice we see in the world has been amplified and controlled by a select few who control more right wing media. Some of those things are being stripped back and highlighted now people have the time to read more and see the reality.

I have gone from seeing 2020 as yet another in a string of bitterly depressing years to potentially the reset the world needed.

There will be people after this for who nothing changes, at all. But with a recession almost guaranteed, there'll also be huge groups of people either demanding or creating a better future.
