What are some of the most "out-there" career or creative challenges that you've set for yourself this year?

Interested in connecting with rulebreakers and rebels who are setting bold challenges for themselves in 2022!

I'll go first! In 2022, I've set the intention to leave my 10-year corporate career in marketing, strategic alliances and product management behind to pursue my lifelong dream of a creative career in the tv/film industry in order to bring stories to life behind the camera.

Crazy, right? What about you?

  • @Joely Bullen Well done!! What an exciting move and especially well done for leaving a toxic workplace.
It's always a risk making a change but work seems to transform from a burden to boon when it's in an environment doing something you are truly passionate about.

I totally understand your freelancing doubts and more responsibility but I found it to be more of a motivater knowing that I was in charge of my own destiny somehow.

Wishing you the very best of luck!!
  • @Vikki Ross Love this challenge and I'm in awe of your creatuve experience! We often find more opportunities by being vulnerable and putting our intentions out there. I'm sure you'll have opportunities galore with your planned networking strategy!

Wishing you the best of luck!
  • I left my stable job to pursue my dream of being a freelancer in the events industry! I was dealing with a toxic workplace and thought, why be unhappy when I can give what I love doing a good go and see where it takes me! Scariest moment ever realising it is completely up to me to get money in the bank every month but no regrets as of yet and I’m much happier 🥰
  • I love your dream! And I love the TV/film industry - I try to write for TV / entertainment clients more than any other (recent clients include Sky, NOW, ITV and FIFA).

I haven't set myself a challenge yet - I'm still thinking about it. It's to ask advertising agencies if I could intern with them for a week. I think I'd like to hang out with creative people making things happen...
  • @Beta Lucca Hi there! I'm seeing more and more people embracing their multi-hyphen and multi-passionate careers which is so wonderful! We're no longer a minority in the shadows! Thanks so much for the encouragement!!
  • @Jaz Sangha You're absolutely right! We can only truly learn by actually DOING the things we want to do. I've spent so much of my life thinking about the things I want to do, and never actually taking tangible steps to get there.
It sounds obvious but it's incredible how much we can learn from doing things - having that reference point is soooooo much more helpful than any amound of planning.
Looking forward to hearing about how you get on with your goal!
  • @Laura Hurst Thank you so much for your encouragement!!

I LOVE the goal you have set for yourself! I find that sometimes just by saying it out loud and putting the intention out there and being vulnerable is the biggest hurdle. After that, it's a case of trying, occasionally failing, learning from our failures and HOPEFULLY achieving what we set out to do or, in some cases, achieving something even better!!

Wishing you the best of luck with your goal!!
  • @Tina Bernstein thank you for your kind words of encouragement and well done on expanding your health and healing journey!! Lifestyle changes are never easy or done overnight as you say, so well done on your determination to follow through. I'm sure you're reaping the benefits of that now :)

I also love what you mentioned about constantly challenging yourself. It may not be easy but it sure does make life more fun!
  • Love this! All the best of luck with your goal this year - sounds super exciting 😃YOU CAN DO THIS!

It's not so much of a career goal but it's creativity related. I've decided I want to apply for Portrait Artist of the Year. I love painting people and especially faces, and I just thought why not apply? And I'll keep doing so til I make it through! 😄
  • I love when people take massive leaps, especially when it comes to aligning work with their passion, meaning and values. Life is too short not to go after your dreams.

Good on you. Having just read your ‘about’ I have no doubt that you’ll make a success of your new ‘career’.

I’m constantly challenging myself. Last year was about taking my health and healing to another level. I managed to go fat-free for three months and subsequently do 7 rounds of a all raw, fat-free 9 day liver cleanse. I’ve been building up to this for five years though - not something one can do overnight.

Wishing you the best of luck 🤞
