What is the best way to find a mentor?

I currently am employed in the creative field, but I would love to collaborate and learn from a mentor.
Continual learning and developing is really important for me, but it is hard to find a mentor unless you work directly for them. So I am wondering if anyone can advise me of some mentors in the creative field and what would be the best way to reach and learn from them.

  • Organisations like Who's Your Momma, She Says, Creative Equals, Dawn, For Creative Girls and WACL can help but if there's someone you admire, ask them directly.

  • There are so many opportunities out there for mentoring.
Now it's always better having a one to one.

Added to the great lists below, you can try
. Pair up it's not really mentoring its more peer-to-peer support.

I also advise you to contact them directly, some people you really admire or would like to learn from. You can be surprised how people are willing to give back.

    Best of luck,

  • Hi Mihaela

One thing that really helps mentors is being clear with what you’d like to focus on with them.

If it’s too general then it’s hard for mentors to know how best to help. If it’s really clear then you’ll find people willing to mentor you.

There’s some great advice from our very own Pip J on how she finds and works with mentors on this interview we did earlier this week.
