What should a designer do to promote his personal brand and be noticed by public?? To be honest I am troubled.

I have created some design content above the average, but there is no way to be promoted. I hope to ask more experienced designers, how do you do it?

I was born with these elements such as words, which are part of my personal brand, and I cannot separate my flesh and blood, but Do I need to change the positioning of the design?

Can you check my Behance and discuss the problem with me, that would help me alot.

  • I agree with the answers below: building a personal brand is a long game and you should tell more about yourself also with your works or personal works. I think your heritage is something unique you should cherish and use as a distinctive element.
  • @June Mineyama-Smithson Thank you for your explore!! And Yes, they are look amazing! I start understand the weight of the concepts.
  • @Peter Jackson Thank you for your answer, I am inspired and can’t wait to make adjustments for the positioning!
  • Looking at your Behance portfolio there is no doubt you have design skills and a good eye for typography.

When it comes to positioning, honesty is a good place to start.

You use the word ‘troubled’ and your profile picture supports this.

It’s not so much the design work but the personal brand that needs positioning.

Try and expand the ‘about me’ section.

Get their attention - a quick impactful introduction to who you are.

Communicate what you do - skills and passions.

Persuade - why should a prospective client hire you?
  • Hi Juwen, personal branding is a long game. So don’t expect to be ‘discovered’, just keep sharing on your social media, engage with people. One project can be shared in multiple ways. e.g. Can you talk about your inspiration, process, the routes dismissed and why.

You have lots of lovely work in Chinese.
Maybe you can talk about the concept, meaning of Chinese characters, or even how to successfully combine Chinese & English. Then publish on your website, Instagram, Linkedin or any social channel. Either written, video or both.

Here is a couple of my design process examples:
