Join British design legend Sir Paul Smith for a celebration of his one-of-a-kind creativity via an exploration of the objects that inspire him.
Sir Paul Smith will be in conversation with Jo Ellison, Deputy editor FT Weekend and Editor of FT HTSI, about his creative process on the occasion of the release of the new edition Paul Smith published by Phaidon. The book spotlights 50 objects chosen by Sir Paul himself for the inspiration they have provided him over the years. The book covers subjects as varied as breaking down the formality of wearing a suit, the importance of wit, and the benefits of remaining independent in an increasingly monopolized world, and includes personal contributions – handwritten notes, a sketch, or photograph – from such fashion and design heavyweights as Manolo Blahnik, Inès de la Fressange, Martin Parr, and John Pawson.
This talk will be streamed on Zoom and all ticketholders will receive a link to view the morning of the talk, as well as the opportunity to watch a recording later.
