In need of a creative pick-me-up? Pep Talk is set to bring some energy, ideas and practical pointers to your day.

It’s fair to say that the past few months have been enough to leave the most optimistic of us feeling, well, a little confused about our next steps in the industry. So if you’re all out of creative career inspiration – wondering what to do next and how – we have just the thing for you.

What is Pep Talk?
Pep Talk is an event to share relatable, easy-to-process tips in conversation with inspiring creatives. Each event will start with a ‘pep talk’, where a chosen creative gets to share their ultimate advice for anyone who might be feeling a bit stuck, before answering questions submitted by you.

When is it happening?
Our first event is planned for 25th August at 12pm, when we’ll be joined by Saori Masuda, a designer at Google Creative Lab specialising in art direction and graphic design. Saori will be sharing her journey, how she found herself working at one of the world’s most competitive companies, and her advice on opening yourself up to opportunities.

About Saori Masuda
Starting out, Saori never expected to be working at Google. After graduating from Chelsea College of Art’s Graphic Design BA in 2014, she spent the next year and a half interning for the likes of Protein, Rose Design and Studio Moross, before accepting a full-time position as a creative designer at a major fashion label. Eight months later, Saori found herself on the receiving end of an email from someone at Google Creative Lab, who was impressed by the breadth of work in her online portfolio. Despite initially thinking the email was spam, Saori went on to join the Lab as part of the much sought-after Google Five programme, and is now in her third year as a designer on the team.

You can find out more about Saori on her website here.

Send us your questions
We’d love for you to join us on August 25th, and we also welcome any questions you have on the topic of finding opportunities. This could be anything from advice on networking, interviewing tips to what impresses in an online portfolio. Please do submit your questions either on this signup form, via our Instagram or by emailing us at hello@lectureinprogress.com.
