Description

Role x You:
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Assistant Editor/Data Operator to join our Post Production team at VICE Studios in Shoreditch, London. This hybrid role will see you play a pivotal part in our production pipeline, ensuring seamless management, transfer, and safeguarding of all media assets from initial ingest to final project archiving. You will also support offline editing teams with project preparation and technical troubleshooting.
This position is ideal for someone with prior Post Production experience, who has a strong logistical mindset and thrives on multitasking. You will work closely with a small, dynamic team, where communication is key to ensuring smooth operations across the wider Post Production department.
The VICE Studios post production department runs on a hybrid working pattern (three days on-site, two days remote). This role offers an excellent pathway for those looking to advance their career in Data Management, Creative Post Production Support, or Post Production Management.
Responsibilities:
  • Collaborating with the VICE Studios Post team to manage multiple projects, ensuring deadlines are met and technical issues are swiftly resolved.
  • Managing the receipt and digital ingest of all shoot/rushes material, ensuring accurate file naming per VM conventions where applicable.
  • Generate proxy material from ingested rushes and organise files for editorial teams.
  • Prepping and syncing rushes. Generating stringouts for review, transcription or translation depending on project needs.
  • Maintain and oversee in-house servers, physical storage and cloud-based platforms (e.g., LucidLink, Iconik) to ensure seamless asset migration, storage, and accessibility across the production lifecycle.
  • Handling the archiving/unarchiving of RAW media and finalised projects to LTO platforms, ensuring long-term preservation of all media.
  • Coordinate asset retrievals and transfers for stakeholders, including locating and managing archive materials, final assets, and legacy files.
  • Working with Rights & Clearance or Legal & BA teams to ensure that requested assets are compliant with legal and copyright requirements.
  • Collaborating with various departments, using strong communication and team-oriented skills to meet the needs of creative and technical teams.
  • Assisting with minor editing tasks as needed, offering flexibility in a collaborative environment to support both creative and technical workflows.
You have these:
  • Expert proficiency using Avid Media Composer, with solid knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and Media Encoder for editorial assistance and troubleshooting.
  • Experienced with project setup (ingesting and prepping footage, creating syncmaps / stringouts for review).
  • Knowledge and experience in utilising cloud-based platforms (LucidLink, Iconik) and in-house server management, ensuring efficient media ingest, organisation, and storage.
  • Excellent attention to detail in managing assets, ensuring proper file naming, version control, and organisation.
  • Capable of handling file acquisition requests, supporting both internal and external teams by managing and delivering required content.
  • Expertise in media archiving, including LTO platform management, and large-scale media migrations across different systems.
