The Telegraph (Commercial Digital & Innovation team) is in need of a Digital Designer to create strategic story driven creative for application across The Telegraph’s multi-platform digital channels, including long-reads, AMP stories, responsive web banners and other formats, ensuring all work produced is of the highest quality.
You will need a strong set of digital design skills, alongside either visual and UX skills, or a keen interest in developing these. Ability to communicate ideas clearly and succinctly is a must, and you will be adept in delivering best-in-class design work in a fast-moving agency environment. You will have strong attention to detail with a passion for innovative design, and an ambition to frame and drive a creative vision to fruition. You will also need to be resilient and a self-starter, with strong teamwork and collaborative skills.
Design and produce digital campaign components such as bespoke long-read articles and other innovative, story-driven formats
Continually review and refine creative output to improve overall campaign performance
Take ownership of your work and be responsible for the quality and punctuality from initial stage all the way through to final production and delivery
Attend internal meetings to capture any creative requirements and wider campaign objectives
Contribute to sales pitches by generating creative ideas and producing design mocks
Collaborate with fellow team members as well as colleagues from other areas of the business to ensure timely product deployment
Stay abreast of emerging design trends and culture to help form new product ideas and strategies
A standout portfolio showcasing a range of work
Knowledge of digital design trends and web technologies, limitations and best practice delivery methods
Experience in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Experience Design
A keen interest in core web development languages, specifically HTML, CSS and Java. Some knowledge and experience in this area is a big plus
Good understanding of general design principles including typography, colour theory and layout. Some UI/UX design experience is a plus
Proactive, enthusiastic, with excellent time management skills
Impeccable sense of timing, creating character and attention to detail
Ability to take on constructive criticism and use this to enhance deliverables
Desirable if experienced in UI prototyping tools such as Sketch, or Figma
