Description

Closing Date: 22-Sep-2024

Are you creative, organised, curious and a great communicator?
Cornerstone is looking for a marketing executive to join them on a permanent basis, to plan and implement multi-platform marketing campaigns for an exciting, enviable range of fiction and non-fiction. This role will work across the list, with a skew towards commercial fiction and romance - from Book Tok and Romantasy to more traditional women’s fiction and saga. As well as developing your own sales-driving campaigns, you will be supporting senior marketers to deliver campaigns for some of our biggest books.
About Cornerstone
Cornerstone is a division within the iconic publisher Penguin Random House, our home. In turn, Cornerstone is home to six imprints: Century, Del Rey, Inklore, Hutchinson Heinemann, #Merky Books, and Cornerstone Press, each with its own specific focus and remit. Every Cornerstone book also goes on to become a Penguin paperback.
Within publishing, Cornerstone has an enviable track record of bestsellers, prize winners and culture-shaping books, working with many of the world’s most interesting voices, often throughout their entire career. Our books span genres, categories and marketplaces globally.
The Opportunity
Day to day, you can expect to be:
  • Creating effective marketing strategies for fiction and non-fiction titles delivered on time, to budget, and in line with divisional priorities, with a major focus on romance, romantasy and women’s fiction
  • You will work closely and effectively with a wide range of divisional departments, including sales, editorial, publicity and international and external stakeholders such as authors and agents
  • Writing promotional copy and working with designers to produce a wide range of marketing materials
  • Allocating budget within your own campaigns
  • Acquisition support, including providing feedback, audience insight and supporting on pitch documents, particularly within the romance and romtantasy genres
  • Running imprint social media channels - creating engaging and effective content to grow our online communities
What you’ll bring
You do not need to have any prior publishing experience to be considered for this role, but experience using key social media platforms, especially Tiktok, and an interest in books within the romance and romantasy genres is a must. You may be a Marketing Assistant or Executive looking for your next step up within publishing or be a marketeer in a different industry looking for a new challenge within books.
What’s important to us is that you are passionate about marketing, design and finding new and effective ways of bringing our books to readers. Working at Cornerstone, this may mean developing partnerships, through social media initiatives, bookseller engagement or through impeccable campaign creatives and written copy.  You’ll also:
  • Have a creative, curious, innovative and inclusive approach
  • Be able to work effectively both in a team and independently
  • Have great communication, interpersonal and presentation skills and experience managing stakeholders
  • Be able to manage your own time and work to deadlines, to multi-task and prioritise competing demands
  • Be audience-focused and excited about finding new routes to readers
  • Be passionate about marketing and design. Keen to pursue new marketing opportunities and to stay on top of wider book trends
  • Have knowledge of the major social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, TikTok)
Whoever you are, we want someone ready for an exciting new challenge. If this sounds like your next role, we would love to hear from you.
Application instructions
Please apply with your CV and cover letter. Your cover letter should briefly outline why you are the right candidate for the role, and we also want to hear about a romance or romantasy campaign that you have admired for its effectiveness or creativity.  The closing date is 11:59pm on Sunday 22nd September.
