BITE LIVE is proud to be DICE Certified and Approved, demonstrating our commitment to making diversity a priority across our events and on our editorial platform.
If 2020, a year like no other, has taught us anything, it’s that the time for telling diverse communities to ‘find their voice’ is over. Instead, as an industry and as individuals we must push ahead to create the space for diverse talent to be recognised, elevated and ensure that new voices are heard. To this end we are committed to ensuring that diversity is a KPI in all aspects of our work.
With this in mind BITE LIVE 2020 has placed a commitment to diversity and inclusion at the heart of our line-up, content, marketing and accessibility. We believe that representation on stages and screens matters. Because if you don’t see yourself represented, the question of ‘is this industry for me?’ will naturally arise.
In curating the content for this year’s event we were greatly supported by the framework provided by DICE and we are immensely proud of this year’s programme being recognised with a 100% DICE score. We have an incredible line-up of speakers this year so please do sign up for updates.
DICE stands for Diversity & Inclusion at Conferences and Events and it provides certification and guidance to help conferences and events deliver a representative and diverse set of speakers, perspectives, and attendees. The ten point charter provides a framework which conferences, events and individuals can follow to finally make the 'manel' a relic of a bygone era. It considers race, age, gender, class, disability, neurodiversity, and event accessibility, and urges conference organisers to also prioritise diversity within their marketing materials.
At BITE we know there is more we can do to elevate diverse voices and rather than seeing our DICE certification as an end point, we see it as a constant reminder that it is possible to raise the bar. To ensure that we are constantly measuring and challenging ourselves and each other to be more inclusive.
