Creating a visual identity for Millican

Millican bags was born after Jorrit Jorritsma and Nicky Forbes moved out of London into the fresh air of the Lake District to rediscover their passions — for the great outdoors, the environment, vintage travel items, exploring the world and a simpler, slower way of life. 

Named after eco-adventurer and godfather of sustainable living Millican Dalton, the travel and outdoor lifestyle brand creates sustainable outdoor bags and accessories geared at environmentally conscious travellers. ?      

Taking inspiration from the brand's namesake, we created an identity for the socially conscious outdoor company.

The Millican logo is directly inspired by the landscape, while the subtle ‘M’ stitch runs subtly through all products as a shorthand signifier of the brand. 

A host of personalised stationery and collateral nods to classic correspondence, and conveys a passion for a simpler, analogue way of life.
Each of Millican’s broad selection of bags is quirkily named after friends that have inspired its founders.

We tapped into the personal stories behind each of these names, shooting them in their own environments to create a host of authentic brand and product photography.

Understanding that sustainable living underpins Millican’s philosophy, we ensured that any physical productions associated with the brand serve a dual purpose — the envelope enclosing a trade mailer cleverly folds out into a leaflet, while a branded promotional stand for Selfridges has been fashioned out of a gate taken from the founders’ own field in Keswick.
