Photographer Ian Winstanley was born into a family of engineers and musicians - half coming from Malta and the other half from England. Ian favoured the musical and artistic side of the family and as an apprentice, shaped his own career as a professional photographer.
His list of clients includes:
Aston Martin, Avis, Audi, BMW, British Telecom, British Waterways, Getty Images, Habitat, Hardys Wines, Harley Davidson, HSBC, Ikea, Intelligent Life magazine, Lotus, Pioneer,
Tarmac, Triumph, Volkswagen and World Vision.
Since setting up his first studio in 2000, Ian has been photographing everything from portraits to landscapes to cars. His cover photography for the international title “Intelligent Life” magazine has brought Ian’s work to the fore, making his signature style recognizable worldwide.
For the past 15 years, Ian has travelled through many countries taking photographs for magazines as well as for personal projects.
Predominantly a portrait/reportage photographer, Ian focuses on the personal moments that occur - when a subject stops projecting outward and eventually turns inward. This aspect is what he captures in a hope that the final portrait reveals some part of that person’s inner personality.
Ian is currently working on a photographic book about Kathmandu.
