M&S SS19 Press Preview

One Marylebone, London. 22-24 January 2019.

M&S teamed up with Timebased for another consecutive year to deliver an elegant M&S Spring Summer 19 Press Preview. The three-day event was held at the impressive former church, One Marylebone.
Previous M&S shows have typically been designed with an open plan exhibition-style space in the Soane Hall, allowing guests to have a wide view of almost the entire collection from the entrance. However, Timebased’s Head of Creative, Pepe Velasco, noted this season was unique in that “we created a layout that encourages a journey of discovery. A sequence of walls revealed different pieces of the collections and incited exploration. This was quite a venture into a more experiential approach”.
The main room on the ground floor showcased the Womenswear essentials, and two private rooms were built into the venue floorplan to display the lingerie collections. An audio guide provided engaging insight on how the pieces had been developed.
The natural materials and thematic elements were recognisable in every aspect of the show. Materials included bamboo, sand, OSP, chipboard, drapes and cardboard to echo the colours of the collection and produce a fresh and inviting feel. Fragrant scents also permeated the building, luring guests into the space. Upstairs, the Menswear was highlighted in a similar style to the Womenswear, with a sequence of giant textured panels in neutral tones. The Kidswear boasted a playful space with a deconstructed house and bright yellow spots.
A delicious assortment of M&S food and champagne was available in the M&S Plant Kitchen. A stunning room filled with lush green leaves and hanging chandeliers. All food was completely vegan, with various gluten-free options. A private dining experience was held on the first evening for top tier editors and on the evening of the second day, there was a private influencer event to celebrate the Footwear Collective.
Journalists, influencers, celebrities and friends of the brand attended the press show across the three days. An outstanding event that attracted widespread positive attention and championed the M&S brand.
