Mindscape Series: In order to study the earth, geology studies the materials of which it is made, the structure of those materials, the processes acting upon them and how those materials, structures, processes have changed over time, geology looks into the history of a landscape in order to understand and give insight about the process that shaped it. The better geology can understand the landscape's history, the better it can foresee how events and processes of the past might influence the future. This exploration of the past in order to get a picture of the current state of a landscape draws similarities in the way that psychology studies the behaviour of the mind in an attempt to understand the role of mental function in an individual while also exploring the physiological and biological processes that underlie cognitive functions and behaviours. Technological advances in imaging have allowed a deeper exploration both in the landscape and neurology with renewed interest in mental states and representations and ever more detailed information of the rocks that create a landscape. Tanausu fascinated by this discoveries beautifully represents in these series how the use of technology and Imaging techniques to expose the composition and history of the earth bare similarities with the tools used to relate mental and neural activity which correspond to different states of consciousness. Here drawing the parallels between geology and psychology in the context of human experience. A way of looking deeper into the mind and brain to better understand how a person's history and past has shaped their present, how their emotional landscape came to be, and in doing so links the human with the earth, both connected, in past present and future, both with a story to tell, a fascinating look into the search for understanding and truth.
