For over 30 years, Stonewall has been a leading voice for the LGBTQ+ community, championing and transforming individuals rights and experiences. To mark a new era of bold activism and unapologetic pride, Stonewall needed a distinctive brand identity to help lead the charge, representing the modern and diverse faces of the movement. The new expression of Stonewall captures the heritage of the LGBTQ+ movement, while celebrating the organisation’s vision for freedom, equity and potential. These values are embedded in the brand mark – through the combined equality and arrow device – while the vertical nature nods to the original Stonewall Inn sign, which inspired our name. Stonewall Voice, our bespoke font, was inspired by protest iconography from the past. Created in collaboration with F37 Foundry, it comes in two typographic weights: Stonewall Loud and Stonewall Proud. We celebrate the diversity of the LGBTQ+ community through the authentic, energetic and empowering photography of Ally Schmaling. The new identity allows Stonewall to look and sound like the leader they are. Bold colours, emotive photography and inspiring messaging combine to be responsive across every brand touchpoint, bringing to life everything from business cards and badges to social media content and brochures. Inclusivity and representation informed every step of the journey, from the visual inspiration and the teams creating the work, to the platforms Stonewall shows up on. With this fresh look and feel, Stonewall can serve their community better, bringing people together to accomplish the organisation’s important work ahead.
