- Organizations And Management In Cross Cultural ContextThis was a live brief to create a promotional video for a book nominated in the CMI awards, the chosen video for each book would be shown when the nominees were announced. For this I chose one of the five books and created a video which explained what the book was about. The book I had chosen was Organisation and Management in a Cross-Cultural Context. I needed to go through the book and make notes about what the contents were before I could properly present what the book was about. The cover was difficult to interpret into a workable visual identity for the video so I used the colours as a link from my animation to the books own design.
- amazon.comThis brief asked me as a designer to take on multiple roles and experience the process of information design from every stage. I was required to research into a brand and find the relevant information that I wanted to include in a short video. My project was based on Amazon.com and after all of my research I proceeded to choose only the most relevant information about what amazon is and what you can do with amazon’s products and services. I chose to use the colour palette of amazon.com as it is a strong brand identity. I then tried to find the most appropriate illustration style for this project that would make it more engaging for my audience as storytelling is very important in Information design. Making an information piece visually engaging is essential to ensuring that the informative content will be paid attention to. Therefore creating a story through animation to accompany the information will mean that people are more inclined to pay attention.
- London Night Bus Film FestivalAs part of a project I was required to take responsibility for my own direction of study. I needed to define a project that would require a comprehensive design solution and undertake independent project management and research into a substantial and complex body of independent work. For this brief I developed the Idea to create a Lon¬don Night Bus Film Festival (LNBFF) that focuses on Lon¬don based films or films set in London. The main LNBFF idea and difference from other film festivals is to show films on a bus and link the bus routes with locations used in the films. I conducted research generally into London based imagery and then more specifically into London transport typography, symbolism and colours throughout the years. The main thing that comes to mind when I think about a Lon¬don bus is the red colour, top deck and the fabric pattern. The fabric was designed specifi¬cally to echo the interior colour scheme of the vehicle: yellow ceilings, red lower sides and green seat backs. I then began looking into similarities between watching films and London transport, for example the windows and film tape, wheels and film reels, Lights, camera angles and a person’s field of view. This all helped me to create a visual for the piece utilizing the idea of light revealing only part of an image, creating a shadowed look that will create a feeling of unease and discomfort which will thematically relate back to the film genres. This is the main idea of the festival branding and the core visual for the promotional video. The purpose of this video is to showcase that the whole event and all of the action takes place on the bus, and to invite people to the festival and not actually reveal the festival’s location until the end of the promo. I took inspiration from the films I selected for this project and subtly referenced them in the design of my characters and their actions. The idea for the logo was to have a simple mark with multiple interpretations, simple text with lines above and below that can be seen as road lines or a frame from a film reel, the interpretation can depend on the context in which the logo is used. The main colours are yellow and black as I didn’t want a piece that was too obviously based around London and therefore the location would overpower the content. music: The doors - Break On Through (instrumental)
