Projects
- Pre Collection SS17Inspired by the photographic story of my mother’s childhood, looking at family life in 1960-70s Britain. The collection holds a sense of purity and naivety. Key photographers are Martin Parr, Tony Ray-Jones, Euan Duff, John Hinde and Peter Mitchell. The season’s muse possesses a sophisticated confidence, reflected in the use of tailored jackets and shirts. Whilst her style is fresh and fun, there is a classic look, developed from the vintage references and the 1950s influence from my grandmothe
- Pre Collection AW16Inspired by a series of patient portraits from a London Victorian lunatic asylum, the collection has a dark origin. The portraits provide a moving and emotional account of people living through extremely difficult circumstances, capturing key moments in their lives. Families and children who survived The Great Depression in America, 1929, were also a key source of inspiration. A palette of bold pinks and heavy burgundies provide a backdrop for flashes of sharp acid yellows and deep ocean blues
- BA Graduate CollectionInspired by the symbiotic relationship between heaven and hell and the different meanings these words can have. Heaven and hell co-exist together in people's minds and rely on each other, without bad there cannot be good and vice versa. From this theory, I developed a concept which focussed on contrasts and clashes, looking at the relationship between opposites. From studying at Masters level I have gained extensive knowledge about how to produce a high quality, luxurious garment. I understand the important of manufacturing techniques and how this needs to be considered at all stages throughout the design process.
Whilst designing and producing my Masters Collection I approached problems and difficulties in a mature and pragmatic manner. The Collection included many complex draped knotting techniques which I executed to appear effortless through internal constructions and clever pattern cutting.
