Worked at a YMCA Christian youth camp as a Cabin Head Counsellor, which entailed me the responsibility to lead a group of regular counselors, as well as compose events and activities, to ensure the children are enjoying their summer camp opportunity. Staying in my assigned cabin required me to consistently care for the children (20 on average), as well as monitor the work of my team of counsellors. My role at this camp was also to hold daily 'Land Sport' programs and activities for the children, which involved the likes of Football, Basketball, Rounders and Volleyball.

Baca supports young forced migrants who arrive as unaccompanied asylum seekers including those that have been trafficked, to rebuild their lives, integrate into a community and use their experience positively. This exciting role entailed me the opportunity to provide support to individual young people, to aspire and to achieve their full potential. Baca have created this 6 month mentoring opportunity with the desire to improve the education prospects of young people that are refugees/asylum seekers. I worked alongside a determined young person who had ambitious dreams and aspiration, which I helped them to achieve by providing the fundamental mathematical knowledge required to achieve their goals. English language is not their first language, so this form of mentoring was quite challenging, but a very exciting opportunity that I had thoroughly enjoyed.
