  • Studio PI: Championing diversity in the creative industry
Studio PI: Championing diversity in the creative industryAs a woman of colour from a working-class family, I always felt like a unicorn in the creative industry. So it came as no surprise to see that the UK Government's All-Party Parliamentary Group for Creative Diversity found that certain sections of society are currently under-represented in this industry. Women. People of colour. People living with disabilities. People from working-class backgrounds. I launched Studio PI to redress this balance. It exists to champion those individuals whose voi
  • You Clap for Me Now
You Clap for Me NowYou Clap for Me Now is a poem to remind us all that a large number of ‘essential key workers’ are from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds. It is read out line-by-line by first, second and third-generation immigrants including doctors, nurses, teachers, shopkeepers, dentists, social workers, delivery drivers, broadcasters and more. • The Art of Travel
The Art of TravelTo celebrate British Airways 100th birthday, I commissioned 18 of Britains finest Artists to create these collectors edition postcard packs that were given out free with The Sunday Times on the 29th December 2019. Each artist portrayed what travel means to them and the talent list included David Downton, Rose Blake, Matt Blease, Alan Kitching, David Doran, Vicki Turner, Hennie Haworth, Stanley Chow, Toby Triumph, Miranda Sofroniou, Mark Lazenby, Brett Ryder, Owen Davey, Owen Gildersleeve, Jonny
  • TLS redesign
TLS redesignI had the honour of overseeing the redesign of this 118 year old publication and what a joy it was to work on! The Times Literary Supplement hadn't had a refresh since 2007 and was in desperate need of some creative tlc. The challenge was to attract a new, younger and more culturally diverse audience without losing the existing readership, up-paging or sacrificing any of the words. Yup - I said it was a challenge... We stripped it back, added a lot of white space and gave it a fresh, modern and
  • Ladies First
Ladies FirstTo coincide with the release of eOnes film Jackie, I commissioned the talented Noma Bar to do this conceptual cover illustration. It portrays how Jackie Kennedy became a role model for strong women around the world and ran on the cover of The Times Weekend in 2016.
  • Movember: Voice male
Movember: Voice maleAs part of a campaign for The Movember Foundation, we wanted to encourage men to speak up and raise awareness around the increasing rise of male suicide. I commissioned Valentina Verc to create this striking typographic illustration that highlighted the problem and ran on the cover of a supplement inside The Sunday Times Magazine.
