Wajeeha Abbasi is an internationally featured Illustrator and Graphic Designer. Her work represents narratives and moments from every day, along with themes around women, pop culture and the philosophy of the Self and the Other. Abbasi has won Ladybird Books Publications award and has had her work exhibited/featured on several platforms including London Design Festival, Digital Arts, VM Art Gallery, Elle Italia, Made in Arts London and The Floating Magazine. She has worked on projects for NASA, V&A Museum, Coca-Cola EU, UN Women, YLabs, Herald and Red Bull amongst others. Abbasi completed her Masters in 'Illustration and Visual Media' from London College of Communication, University of the Arts London (UAL) in 2015 where she was the recipient of the Vice Chancellor's International Scholarship. She did her Bachelor's in 'Communication Design' from Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture in 2012 and after graduation, worked as a graphic designer at Ogilvy. In the last four years, she worked as the Manager Brand and Design and Communications Manager at the British Council in Pakistan, before moving to Toronto, Canada. Managed Internal Communications and the brand for the British Council in Pakistan as a part of the Marketing and Communications team. Looked after corporate communications, monthly internal newsletter, brand compliance and managing the brand identity for digital and print platforms for the organisation. Liaised with the Strategic Business Units on various projects related to arts, society and education. Dealt with freelance designers, photographers, filmmakers, illustrators and event managers to create brand-compliant collateral. Brand Champion trained by the British Council global brand team. • Executed the internal communications for HRH Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate’s Royal visit to Pakistan in partnership with the British High Commission, reaching the global staff of over 20,000. • Successfully developed digital and print promotional material for the WOW- Women of the World Karachi Festival resulting in 1.4 million social media reach, 3.04 million impressions and 16000+ footfall at the two-day festival. • Built and managed internal communications channels through 35+ monthly newsletters, 50+ global bulletin updates, 15+ Impact stories and articles via the Intranet and Microsoft platforms. Streamlined and broadcasted internal customer-focused campaigns on global strategy, learning and development, recruitment, staff wellbeing, equality and diversity and crisis management.
Managed the British Council brand and design for print and digital media platforms including event branding, report designing, internal and external promotional campaigns. Managed a group of graphic designers, photographers, filmmakers to produce high-quality on-brand collateral for promotion of various Strategic Business Units at the British Council. This includes projects like the British Council Libraries including their launches, exhibitions, book launches, summer programmes, Arts programmes like WOW Festival, Heritage Conference, Fashion DNA, Sheherzaad, Educational projects like PAK-UK Gateway, Study UK Alumni Awards, Pakistan Scottish Scholarship Scheme, Society projects including Active Citizens, Creative Cities, DICE fellowship and other strategic and FCO projects including Mayor of London visit to Pakistan, HMS Argyll visit, HMS Dragon Visit, Red Arrows Air Show. Conducted brand audit as part of the global brand audit for the British Council. Brand Champion trained by the British Council Global Brand team. • Successfully executed the ‘70 Years 70 Stories’ campaign branding and communications, celebrating 70 years of the British Council in Pakistan, with editorial design and digital promotion. Created branding for ‘A Journey Worth 70 Years’ documentary in collaboration with Oscar-winning SOC Films, screened at London, Bradford, Manchester Museum, Glasgow and Edinburgh, UK. • Created promotional material for the Royal Air Force Red Arrows Air Show, with a footfall of 15000+ people, International Heritage and Museum Conference 2016 attended by 5000+ people, Mayor of London’s visit to Pakistan, 2 WOW Think-Ins and 4 Study UK Alumni Awards amongst others. • Spearheaded the branding and visual design for the British Council Libraries project including launch, premises, merchandise and event branding, print and digital promotional campaigns resulting in 1000+ Library members in the first year and over 100 on-ground events per year.
Worked on the British American Tobacco account to create packaging and BTL, interactive, print and digital campaigns for Dunhill, Lucky Strike, John Player Gold Leaf and Benson & Hedge. Worked on Mondelez Int, Coca Cola and Lenovo accounts for special campaigns and developed concepts, print ads and TVC storyboards. • Successfully executed the creative pitch for Engro Foods Ltd., with illustrative branding and packaging designs, winning new business for Ogilvy Pakistan. • Successfully delivered the BTL interactive campaign ‘Urban Beats’ – Dunhill smokers exclusive lounge and live concerts for the British American Tobacco attended by 1500+ people.
Worked in the Creative team to create visuals for the headline stories on Senate Elections in Pakistan, UEFA European Football Championship and, International Cricket Champion’s Trophy Tournament for the sports pages, lifestyle centrefold on fashion, arts and culture, and children’s pages.
Worked on TVC development for Sprite and Tang special campaigns for Pakistan and MENA Region. Worked on pitch for Lenovo digital promotions in Pakistan and British American Tobacco campaigns.
