Can you give me feedback on my updated website? Thank you!

I've just finished updating my website, would you be so kind to give me feedback / opinions?
Thank you!

  • Think your site is looking nice, and I definitely get a clear vibe about who you are stylistically. A few things I'd say:

    1) Bio: I'd maybe talk here about what kind of work you do (is it experimental type, posters..) and who you are as a designer. I like that you talk about remote work, but you are much more than your work availability!

    2) Type: I'd look at possibly adding another typeface to help with the hierarchy. It's nice to have a few different sizes and weights to help with legibility. Headings can be in bold for example.

    3) Context: Might be worth adding some context to each of your projects, even if they are self initiated – Love the pizza illustrations you worked on, but your description doesn't tell me why you explored it. I think you might also have some issues on that page with image quality, worth checking that things are at a good dpi for screen display. I'm not an expert, but I use 150dpi and then optimise the images for web.

Hope that helps, and nice work!
  • @Giulia Vigna No worries. I am no expert but only tricks from the trade ;) so shout if you need any help :)
  • @Patrick Ofosu Thank you so much for your feedback! I'm really trying to improve my SEO but it's not as easy as I imagined :) working on it though!

    Thank you!
  • Hello! I think the portion of the About on your website is very clear and organized. The colour blue on the lettering really complements the images, I'm not sure about the use of emojis instead of the normal arrow, it doesn't look as professional in my opinion. The rest looks good to me, easy access, clear information, user friendly.
  • Hi Guilia, hope all is well! Clean and simple :)

    A few suggestions:

    1. For SEO purposes - the Page Title (browser tab) change from giuliavigna.com to your name, e.g. Freelance Graphic Designer - Giulia Vigna maybe? Can alt text be added to the images?
    2. E.g. this (Freelance Graphic Designer - Giulia Vigna) at the top of the page. So as soon as anyone lands, they see what you do before looking at your works?
    3. Copyright date change 2019 > 2020 ;)

Any further advice, keep us informed. In the meantime, keep safe and continue the great work!

  • Hi Giulia! Congrats for your work. It is really good. If I had to say any downside comment it would be that the architecture of your website is so “standard” in front of your design style that is more avant garde. Try to prove any crazy website composition :)

Anyway, in love of your portfolio. Congrats again!

  • @Xavier Segers Thank you Xavier! good point, and yes, I have been looking for wasy to make the graphic packages stand out more! thank you very much for your feedback!
  • Hey Giulia

Congrats with your website update. It's very straight forward and fresh.
I like the funny twist with the arrow cursor, it makes it definitly more memorable.

The only thing I would say is that your font colour is blue for everything, maybe underline your links like you did with your email address? Otherwise people might glance over your graphic packages that you offer on your about page.

    Great job!
