Hi creative folk. What's the best website to build a quick/easy to use online portfolio please?

I'm toying between Squarespace or Adobe Portfolio at present. Any advice, tips or recommendations would welcome.

  • Hi @Cormac Lee , yes I have CC and thought Adobe Portfolio looked good as it comes with the lisence (which is great). Thanks :)
  • Hey Tina, if your already paying for Adobe CC their is a tool that comes with it called Adobe Portfolio, so you wouldnt have to pay extra. :) I currently use it and its really friendly and comes with many templates.
  • There is Squarespace and Wix, though web developers will be aghast at the bloated code they generate on those sites! There is Behance, which is now free with an Adobe account, it's an online site where you create a project then add files eg images into it, you can add titles, and other descriptions of the work, and build up a gallery of work quite quickly and straightforwardly. It does link up to Adobe Portfolio I think, but I've not tried that yet.
  • Hi @Aleksandra Slezak , I've actually been using InDesign Publsih online temporarily to showcase my work. I didnt know about the stat's though so I'll take a look :)
  • @Kate Dickenson maybe it’s not a website but I use (and recommend!) InDesign Publish Online feature. Once you ready you create a link for people to access your portfolio. You can update it at anytime and you have an access to the statistics on how many people viewed it, for how long etc.
  • I'd definitely recommend Squarespace. Super easy to set up and as it's a portfolio site only need the basic package too so not too expensive.
  • We see lots on squarespace and wix that look great and I understand are pretty easy to use and host.
Hidden's app also allows you to showcase your work in a way that can stand out completely from the crowd. https://www.hidden.io/
More than happy to help you set up your profile.
  • @Shirley Wang amazing! Thanks for the addtional recomendations. I'll take a look :)
  • Thanks @Ronna Sakowska . I'll stay clear of this platform but I'll check out the Wordpress+Elementor too :)
  • Hey Tina, I personally think Squarespace is the best as it comes from the deisgn of a website from a creative point of view, just my opinion !

I have 3 websites on the Squarespace platform.

I hope this helps, stay safe...

  • Agreed with @Raya Kovacheva , Wix is hauntingly annoying sometimes. Here's my friend's site built with Adobe Portfolio if you wanted to see more examples: lyster.me/

Other than that, from my research, I think Wordpress+Elementor still wins, and I've had Webflow recommended (which looks amazing!) if you want full control but intuitive/visual interface.
  • Hi Tina!

You should check out the following in addition to Adobe portfolio that others have recommended:
    Semplice https://www.semplice.com/
    ReadyMag https://readymag.com/
    Cargo https://cargo.site/
    Carbonmade https://carbonmade.com/

    Examples
Portfolio I made on Semplice: https://www.semplice.com/showcase/tracy-doyle
    Sites I love made on ReadyMag https://alysienne.design/ (hi @Alyssa Ordillano!) & https://tomanrobert.com/
    Cargo: https://shirleywangdesign.com/

Tobias does a good review comparing the differences between Semplice and Carbonmade here https://vanschneider.medium.com/semplice-vs-carbonmade-152669fddcca

Hope this helps! Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

  • @Justin Poulter thanks for the tip about Behance! I didnt realise (but should have) how intergrated the two would be :)
  • Thanks @Lauren Avery . Lovely folio. Which theme did you use to start off with please?
  • I use Adobe portfolio for its simplicity. Here's an example of my portfolio created through that platform https://laurenavery.myportfolio.com/
  • I Tina.

I use Adobe Portfolio. I particularly like its intergration with the Behance Network. I love how you are able to, with click of a button upload Behance projects with all their contents directly to your website.
