“If you haven’t got confidence in self, you are defeated twice in the race of life...” - Marcus Garvey What quotes or motto do you live by?

Really interested in this, as usually the motto and quotes people retain in their minds says a lot about their character as a person.

Full Quote:
“If you haven't confidence in self, you are twice defeated in the race of life. With confidence, you have won even before you have started. ”
― Marcus Garvey

  • This is my favourite quote recently: 'Sometimes maybe it's a vanity to judge ourselves'. - James Lee Burke.
  • These quoutes are all great and definitely upliftiing at a time like now, keep the positive affirmations going and stay safe. I believe that all people who have great philosphies are able to shape the future for the better with true honest convictions - as philosphy can make you more rich than money itself.

  • “If you don't ask, you don't get” A popular motto and one that my mum instilled in me. If you've got an idea that might help someone or yourself, make it happen!... because...

“If there is a will, there’s a way” - another good one ;)
  • Great question!
"Nothing is ever as good or as bad as it seems" - from my mum! (probably someone else before her ;)
  • Hey @Steven Williams i always have the quote "more is lost by indecision than wrong decision" at the back of my mind. I find it helps me to be more pragmatic and decisive, and stops me putting things off because i'm hesitant over a 'potential' bad outcome (that will most likely not happen).

The funny side of it is that i got that quote from watching the Sopranos, although it originally came from Marcus Tullius Cicero.
  • "To regret is to lose the battle twice" and "what's meant for you, will not pass you by" are the two quotes which seem to follow me throughout my life both personally and professionaly.
  • “At the center of your being you have the answer; you know exactly who you are and you know what you want.” Lao Tzu
  • 'Fail we may, Sail we must' - Andy Weatherall's Tattoo brought back to my attention after his recent passing.
  • Worrying is a poor use of your imagination. ~ Taisha Abelar
  • Mine isn’t really a motto but four words that I view as the cornerstones for my career

In all my years as a hairdresser and now I’m moving into photography I try and tick those boxes
