Thought starter for the day.....Name that design tool or software that you hate using, then tell me how you would make it better.
A lot of design software claims to be for designers and it got me wondering... there must be some we all can't stand using because the user experience or interface for creatives just doesn't stack up!

- Chaos Corona.Reducing render time
- @Milly Zecchinato This! They usually change the default in every update, I wonder why.
- @Gary Wai-man Kwok I'm an illustrator who used to work entirely traditionally, so working with inDesign was this horrible thing I had to do very occasionally (usually for a project at uni). If I were to improve it, I suppose I'd give simpler options for those who want it with the export process?I echo what others say though about Adobe, where as soon as you get comfortable with one programme, you have to entirely relearn the process with the next one
- Is really interesting to see that all the comments are about Adobe programs... which are meant to be for creatives by creatives. Perhaps Adobe are losing the race in the design world.
- @Kathryn Brammall guess it depends whether you've done more digital or print work I guess, because I love InDesign HAHA!
- I find inDesign to be my personal beast to tame - exporting is my least favourite part of the creative process, and I have had many a meltdown while using inDesign, haha!
- @Milly Zecchinato yes exactly! For me it’s mainly the difference in photoshop and illustrator UX because I use them interchangeably
- @Iris van Dijk THIS! I get so frustrated when I move around from Photoshop to Illustrator to Adobe XD... Especially I hate that Photoshop won't scale images like it used to when you pressed the Shift key... Now it stretches them IF you press it. I still have to get used to this new behaviour.
- Hey @Iris van Dijk no wrong answers here at all, purely my own curiosity! Blender is something i'd love to learn but i agree the learning curve is pretty steep. I guess that what keeps it a 'professional tool'. I see all types of people using Adobe these days and calling themselves creatives! haha
- Hi Pete,This may not be the exact answer you're looking for, but for me, all Adobe programmes having different shortcuts and interfaces is a big one. It's the same company making it, but all of them are different and that makes no sense to me. Also in terms of how quickly you pick up a faster workflow with them because every new one you learn, is like having to restart. Making them all the same, if they have the same tools i.e. Photoshop, XD, and Illustrator, would improve it a lot. Then another one is Blender. For me the learning curve is too steep and that's why I dislike learning/using it. I think the main thing for me that I struggle with for Blender is that there are too many options in the interface. I get lost in that alone.I hope this helps in any way :)Best, Iris
- I hate whichever one I haven't yet learned HAHA! I'm aware of the need to learn as much as possible though. My bag is Adobe CC (obviously) and Figma recently learned. I had downloaded a 3D software called Spline with every intention of learning but I just never found the time to do so.
