- @Yana Shopova I completely understand. There are clients that will pay more or understand the value better - it’s about getting in front of them. Which can be challenging.
- @Yasmine Patpatia i feel like it's mostly that where i'm based graphic design work is really underminded and very underpaid, so anything priced above €100 is too expensive :))
- @Jochen Viegener very good points. This will be very helpful for others to hear how to manage the same challenge. Thank you for sharing 🙏
- @Kevin Paul Lawrence moving can be very uprooting professionally. I can recommend Creative Mornings - a great networking event that’s free on Friday morning.
- @Yana Shopova is it a confidence barrier or does there not seem to be work? :-)
- Being from the states and living outside a media hub I find it hard to make connections
- Getting myself out there and finding clients
- @Yasmine Patpatia Personally, I tend to spend a few minutes on this with the client at the beginning of mprojects. Finding out how the client likes communicating and making sure to let them know what I need from them and how. This way it sets up projects in an easy, transparent way and irons out any possible misunderstandings.I think its key to understand that as a creative you are not only a visual communicator but also a human.
- Promoting myself and getting my voice out there
- @Simran Kaur I can relate. Can be very tedious sometimes. Perhaps a calendar reminder system would help?
- @John Mazo understandable! Where do you network? Is it more online or offline?
- @Gielizza Calzado I hear you. It often feels like a never ending task. Do you work in partnership with anyone/ anywhere else? Sometimes this can help
- @Nia ☆ do you mean in terms of people recognising what you do? Or more networking? :-)
- @Anna Wijnands really beautiful! Thank you for sharing! I think remaining creative is definitely key.
- @Yasmine Patpatia When it's busy, I just try to go with the flow. During quiet times I make illustrations that can add strengthen my portfolio and work on imporving my own PR and marketing. I like that part of being a freelancer as well: coming up with new ideas and strategies to get your work seen.
- Getting myself out there !!
- Consistent lead generation for me!
- At best would be networking and getting new projects to come in. It's a bit overwhelming as you begin a new path.
- Following up with emails. I often forget or I just get tired of chasing.
- @Lidia Springer starting from scratch can be overwhelming. How / where have you been networking so far? What have you found useful?
- @Amin McDonald I think these are such good points. Staying authentic is necessary and often tricky with so many trends to jump on.Making time for yourself is also key, but often challenging. How do you go about building credibility? Do you have tips for others?
- My biggest challenge as a Model Manager is building credibility within the fashion and commercial industry. This can be so time consuming and not leave any space for myself haha. Self care is so important and we forget it when in the grind culture. My other biggest challenge is staying true to my own message and not fall into the traps of trends :)
- I'm changing from a full-time graphic designer to my own business focused on the music and event industry, and I'm having trouble with networking and establishing new contacts in the industry. It's hard to start from scratch when the previous full-time industry was different.
- @Jochen Viegener ah totally get you! Managing the client is a whole job in itself and can often disrupt the creative process (even just switching from a creative state to business mode). Thanks for sharing. Is there anything you do to ensure clients communicate in a way that works for you?
