- @Tom Rickard Hi Tom, I don’t know of any collections of wide fonts, but you can the attributes in many of the big type libraries so that should help you to narrow down the search. Lots of font families & superfamilies have a wide version, and many are now available in varying weights and widths for you to adjust yourself. Also subscribe to the Typewolf newsletter as he gives a great roundup of typefaces each week.
- Where can I find a collection of wide fonts? Im noticing that wide is everywhere these days and I'm loving it.
- What a cool question, so hard to answer but ok, let's do it:Snog: Playfair DisplayMarry: Ivy ModeAvoid all the gang: Papyrus, Chalkduster, Comic Sans and all the bouncy wedding like scripts out there.
- You have excellent taste @Abigail Baldwin
- @Abigail Baldwin I’m sure Laura won’t mind sharing. As you can see from the other answers, Futura will have got around a bit before settling down to marry you ;-)
- * Snog — Also, Playfair Display (I see @Laura Hurst pipped me to the post on this one). It seems like such a stylish and alluring font.* Marry — Futura. A timeless and reliable classic.* Avoid — Papyrus! It is just so... gross. :-(
- I would:• Snog Playfair Display - they seem like a fun type who knows how to have a good time• Marry Texta and all its variants - we've been in a steady relationship since 2015 and I'm never looking anywhere else for another sans• Avoid all of the weddingy/bakery/female-entreprenuery brush scripts. I'm so over them.
- Marry: Warnock Pro - it can lay out any book. Robust, dependable, and nice feet.Snog: Futura Display BQ - it's not suitable for much, but it's the thing you mess around with for a bit before you settle on its more sensible sister.Avoid: Helvetica (and of its variants) - that piece of shit belongs in a bin, not in my pants. Get it out of here. Its parents were big in the 60s and 70s, so you know they're racist.
- @Luke Freeman Great suggestion, cheers Luke.
- @Sarah Hyndman put this question on https://typedrawers.com/ might get more laughs
- Jan Lewis via Patreon "It’s a good question. Avoid - comic sans of course, although I’d probably cross the road to avoid Apple Chancery and copperplate. And what’s that system script font that used to always be rolled out for wedding invitations - something script? Snog - almost any of the lovely new script fonts out now. I might marry Frutiger or Ubuntu, even Minion - steady and reliable sorts, but there’s so much choice these days, I’m not sure I could truly make that commitment.Your answers would be interesting. Will you be revealing all?"
- twisted_bitter @PrintProofapp on Twitter:"Snog Pickle Standard so eccentric, marry Cooper Black oh the curves, avoid Gotham bland beyond belief."
- @Sarah Hyndman guess that’s why it’s called Futura STD
- @Luke Freeman Brilliantly descriptive answers Luke. Especially, Futura you're not the first person to pick it to snog so you're spot on that it's getting around a bit!
- Snog Futura but I feel may catch something as it’s been around and over used.Marry NB Grotesk, dispite it being grotesque, I don’t discriminate, as I admire the modernist shape and form and also I want the simple life and would be a nice family to marry into.Avoid Impact it feels slutty something from the Page 3 of The Sun or those adverts in the phone boxes in Soho.
- Musician Tom Morley just answered this on LinkedIn:"Let's just say if I was about to leave a New York party and Copperplate Gothic walked in late with her entourage (she would be BOUND to have one) I'd order another cocktail. Why? Surely one doesn't need to ask daahhlink."
