FranklinTill will be exploring the emerging desire to reject newness in favour of pre-loved materials and products, and the impact this will have on colour, material and finish.
From fashion to furniture, giving second-life through reuse, recycling and upcycling not only saves extraction of valuable raw materials, but also celebrates the previous life of products and resources. Just as repurposing determines new iterations of materials it also influences colours and patinas – sparking a different way of creative thinking, where standardisation has to take a back seat.
We look to the growing number of creatives and manufacturers applying their ingenuity to champion new approaches around repair, re-appropriation and re-use. An approach that leads to an aesthetic freedom that celebrates imperfection and irregularity rather than striving for homogenisation.
