The Global Health & Safety (H&S) Lead is responsible for developing and managing the overarching H&S strategy at Aesop. Reporting into the Head of Global Retail Operations, this position, through exceptional stakeholder engagement and the creation of a robust governance framework, will maintain the H&S vision designed to protect our colleagues, customers and the communities in which we operate.
Position Responsibilities
As the Aesop global subject matter expert for H&S, develop the vision and identify strategic goals for business functions across retail and regional offices
Establish and nurture relations with key influencers, partnerships and stakeholders in order to build a strong network and leverage this to ensure H&S remains an ongoing priority
Identify, and partner alongside, an executive sponsor to champion the Global H&S strategy
Integrate H&S leadership expectation into leadership programs, inductions and ways of working
Business point of contact for Aesop on all matters relating to H&S
Responsible for the management, governance and assurance of all H&S policies, processes and procedures considering best practice and operational needs, ensuring that Aesop complies with all current H&S legislation
Maintain current business-as-usual activities across Safe Operating practices and Incident Management
Implement safety governance structure (Global and Regional) and operating rhythm
Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which Aesop operates and maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislative changes at a global level and communicate impacts to the organization
Controls & Data Management
In partnership with key functions, identify and implement corrective and preventative actions and controls
Maintain safety reporting metrics and monitoring via internal reporting platforms and establish and support safety scorecards
Analyse safety performance metrics and prepare regular regional level reports and improvement recommendations
Play a key role in maintaining B Corp certification
Significant experience leading H&S within a customer-facing global business, ideally with Retail industry experience
Knowledge and experience creating global frameworks, such as incident reporting, management and escalation process, internal audit criteria and safety scorecards
Relevant working knowledge of appropriate H&S legislation and best practice principles; expertise within Asia markets particularly desirable
Experience devising training and best practice guidance/principles in relation to H&S compliance, risk awareness and risk management
Open mindset and deep curiosity seeking to understand others, listen without judgement and act on diverse perspectives
Commitment to fostering an inclusive and psychologically safe work environment
Strong analytical and reporting expertise and capability
Ability to partner, collaborate, communicate and influence effectively across differing functions and geographies
Suitably qualified via The National Examining Board of Safety and Health (NEBOSH) or the Institute of Safety and Health (IOSH).
This is a full-time position operating with a hybrid working pattern, including 3 days on-site per week at Aesop’s Global Head Office, based in London Bridge. The role will operate on a fixed-term contract for a period of 18 months.
