Role purpose
Reporting to the Global Finance Director, the role is to support and manage the development of global pricing strategies across the Aesop product portfolio and business. This includes evaluation and optimisation of RRP pricing process (market benchmarking, methodologies and modelling) used to determine customer pricing of both new and existing products, playing a key role in ensuring price consistency across all markets. The role will also provide fact-based insights to drive and execute strategic pricing projects and manage oversight of new product forecasting, partnering with internal stakeholders such as Regional and Market teams, Global Data Insights and Global Supply Chain. This is a full-time position operating with a hybrid working pattern.
Role responsibilities include, but not limited to –
Strategic Pricing, Project Management & Execution
  • Identify key projects to further reinforce and advance Aesop’s pricing strategy in a rapidly changing global landscape. Including, but not limited to, determining tailored approaches to new market entry pricing, ascertaining future baseline currency pricing and L’Oréal pricing activities.
  • New Market Entry: Work closely with local markets, regional teams and cross-functions to research, recommend and implement customer pricing approaches for new market entries. Consider and manage all impacts including customer, market, finance/commercials (margin, revenue, taxation, tariffs/duties etc.) and regulations.
  • Baseline Pricing: Work closely with Finance, Strategy, and broader cross-functions to recommend future baseline currency pricing approach for Aesop.
  • L’Oréal: Represent Aesop (as/when required) in Group forums/discussions pertaining to RRP pricing, market research and/or pricing tools.
Global RRP Pricing
  • Strategy and Process development: Work closely with Product and Finance team to evaluate and refine (continuous improvement) our customer pricing strategy, developing process and procedures for assigning and approving pricing as required.
  • Model development: Evolve & build upon the Global pricing model as required to assist in determining pricing across segments, categories and markets.
  • New Product Development: Prepare fact-based recommendations for global pricing of New Products (including reformulations as/where relevant), aligning with key global stakeholders and regions/local markets.
Annual Pricing Review
  • End-to-end management of the annual pricing review process, including -
  • Proposal/Recommendations: Partner with Regional and Local Commercial teams to ultimately recommend annual pricing changes, maintaining a long-term strategic view. Ensure product pricing is considered relative to the market, Aesop’s wider product portfolio, across markets and channels. Consider market conditions, tariffs/taxes, relative pricing, and commercial impacts (revenue/profit/margin /customer loyalty/lifetime value).
  • Communication: Align pricing recommendations with Internal Stakeholders, including CEO and Senior Executives. Communicate pricing rationale, methodology and changes to regions and markets.
  • Roll Out: Manage the end-to-end roll-out of annual pricing amendments, inclusive of market training, communication and execution with cross functional partners (including Marketing, Retail Operations, IT, Digital and Supply Chain).
Pricing Insights
  • Drive the global pricing strategy and overall business intelligence with analytics. Support the product team and wider business with customer pricing insights.
  • Work closely with Category Managers to define competitive sets for new and existing product RRPs.
  • Ensure consistent pricing strategies across all segments and categories to mitigate conflict and margin risk.
  • Monitor markets and make recommendations for ongoing price adjustments in light of changing market conditions (including foreign exchange, geopolitical developments, competitor activity).
  • Conduct price elasticity studies to understand likely customer response to price movements.
Pricing Governance & New Product Forecasting (Oversight)
  • Ensure stringent governance and correct controls are in place regarding the setting & maintenance of customer RRP pricing.
  • Certifications/Audits: Work closely with Finance, cross functional partners and auditors in the certification/re-certification of pricing processes and procedures e.g., Sarbanes-Oxley; L’Oréal Audits).
  • Work with Data Insights Analyst to understand and streamline the New Product Forecasting process – involving Regions/Local markets and Supply Chain functions.
  • Provide an analytical lens to review and assess New Product Forecasts in light of business growth targets, inventory holdings, business risks and Global Supply Chain.
