This is an exciting new multi-platform role in the ITV Newsroom. The successful candidates will primarily work producing and curating stories on ITV News digital, TV output and ITVX, plus have the opportunity to be involved in newsgathering content for use on all platforms. This role will involve some shift work, including early starts and some weekend working.
Key Responsibilities
Producing stories for all ITV News content on TV, ITVX and Online
Writing engaging digital articles for the ITV News website and associated social platforms.
Assisting in the making of TV News programmes, curation of content on ITVX and for social media platforms and online.
Working primarily in the office but also on location as required including with some travel
Newsgathering content for stories, both in the office and on location, to be used across platforms
Researching and selecting archive
Conceiving, writing and executing graphics
Sourcing and logging picture and stills
Writing and editing – including digital articles and headlines, TV underlays and graphic set-ups
Selecting video and sound-bites to be edited for headlines, news-belts and packages
Finding and interviewing contributors in person, online and for text article.
Contributing and researching story ideas and planning stories for broadcast
Working with and briefing reporters and camera operators where needed
Demonstrate distinctive judgement about digital storytelling
Ensure stories are accurate, comply with the law and relevant regulations, and work in accordance with ITN guidelines on health and safety in the office and in the field

Excellent journalistic judgement and knowledge of news and current affairs
Some understanding of how to construct a TV news package
A basic understanding of TV graphics and how to write them and work with a designer
Strong technical skills, an ability to video edit is desirable
A commitment to creating news coverage that reflects the diversity of Britain’s communities
Good knowledge of Ofcom regulations, the ITN compliance manual and legal requirements and health and safety requirements
Driving licence desirable though not essential
Foreign language desirable though not essential
